Not exactly a machine for beginners, if you're older, but with the kids of today who are tech savvy this is a great way to start! I bought it because my older machine ( a
Janome) and this one looked similar online. Well, it isn't exactly the same, it actually does a lot more and I've yet to try it all.
This is the second one I got, as the first one was defective and thread kept getting tangled inside the bobbin area or breaking off along the top areas. But I figured I'd give it a shot and opted for a replacement instead of just going back to Singer (a great machine and I've bought two over the last 30 years) and seeing if the additional perks that came with this machine would be helpful.
So far I'm glad I got it. I sew in binges, and had to finish a project I was in the middle of so I couldn't wait for a good sale locally , and all my local Walmart had was a basic Singer for $149. Why not spend an extra few dollars and get something that does more?

I wouldn't exactly recommend for beginners because it has a lot of buttons to get use to. Pretty easy to use and I love that's it's light weight.
