The stairs came as a roll of impervious. bendable, heavy duty foam that I took out of the bag and allowed it to expand on its own before trying to place it into the soft, plushy pillow cover with zipper bottom.I wrestled it into the material cover; pushed and pulled to get it to settle into the case. Now, I could put it up by the side of my bed. It is sturdy, and the steps are almost rounded, for easy access. I taught my poodle to jump up onto the stairs to begin the ascent to the top of the bed. She even understands descending the stairs even better now! I always give her high praise when she climbs the stairs on her own, when I notice her confidence soaring after about a month of training. She understands it, thankfully! It doesn't jut into the room too deeply, but I suggest turning on the lights before you walk from the bed. I did trip once over it, not too badly - especially since the foam is a great substance to fall into. It completely broke my fall. I didn't sustain any injuries, thankfully I didn't fall onto my knees. The foam is great and sturdy padding. My dog is 12-13 lbs. in weight. Falling off has never been an issue for her. She doesn't bark so much due to wanting attention to be lifted from the ground. She can now scale the 3-tiered ramp herself. It takes some practice and bonding time with your dog, but I think mine finds it fun at the same time. Be patient and aware.

I've bought several sets of pet stairs over the years for my tiny mighty. She's 11 years old and 6lbs and a princess and apparently princesses don't jump lol. She has never been able to jump on the couch/ furniture bc she's too small. Her sitter told me about these since she easily gets on/ off the couch at her place. They are amazing! When the tiny box arrived I was a little nervous but once I opened everything I was amazed. She still isn't sure about going up the stairs at home unless I put her on the bottom step but I think she is just trying to get me to pick her up. Going down the stairs is a breeze for her and she is quite comfortable with that. I (& she) really like how the steps are not rigid but more sloping. These stairs are super sturdy and I easy to clean. I'm looking at getting a larger version for the bedroom. I would not hesitate to say that these the best stairs for small dogs hands down.

I like that the steps are firm enough to support my 12 and 18 lb dogs. I also purchased a different brand for about 10$ less and that 3 step holds no weight.

Anyone who's making negative comments are NOT doing their homework and determining the size and the height that they need, believe me, I look at all reviews before I buy some thing I've had a chuckle at some of them, also, if they are sliding on your hardwood floor, just add furniture grippers, and they won't move them inch !!!! but needless to say I have a small dog and she doesn't really like stairs so these are absolutely perfect, because they are more like a ramp/stairs, and she goes up and down them EASILY & used the very 1st day and they're wide enough to where they don't make her nervous. Love it so much, I ended up buying another one & getting another one after that for my sisters pups .
