They all last about a year before they get loud. Doesn't matter the brand or cost either from my experience. For the money this thing is great even if only last a year its cheap enough that I can just buy another one so I don't have to hear the Olde fish vibrator going off during the night! Hah!

I like the look of this pump and it's relatively quiet. I'm using this on 4 small sponge filters temporarily. It really isn't strong enough for 4. I think it would power 2 small sponge filters adequately.
