Key features

  • ACCURATE: More sensors = More accuracy. The ProSensor M210 has 13 sensors and 21 Enhanced Precision LEDs. Conventional stud finders have 1 or 2 sensors. With more sensors, Franklin Sensors stud finders are the market's most precise and best stud finders. The M210 has a max detection depth of 1.7". The enhanced precision LEDs track the exact location of studs while displaying the center and edges simultaneously.
  • EASY: One mode finds it all! It finds wood beams metal studs, pipes, live electrical wires, and the M210 stud finder auto-selects the most accurate mode for changes in material or depth. No toggling between standard-scan and deep-scan. Also, no calibration is required. Just press and hold the button to begin your scan. Additionally, you can start over a stud, unlike other stud sensors that give false readings. It is undoubtedly the most intuitive stud finder on the market
  • SHOWS THE CENTER AND EDGES OF STUDS SIMULTANEOUSLY: The M210 saves you time by showing you more of what is behind the wall. It displays the center and edges of studs simultaneously, shows double studs and irregular configurations found in older homes that other stud finders cannot detect.
  • DURABLE: Designed for all users from homeowners to DIY enthusiasts to professionals, the M210 stud finder is accurate and durable. It saves you time while still being tough enough to withstand being dropped off a ladder or tossed into a toolbox.
  • EXTRA FEATURES: Live Electrical Warning, Built-In Bubble Level and Convenient Pencil Caddy

Easiest Stud Finder I've ever used

This thing is easy to use and feels like a quality tool. It is accurate and makes installing trim work much faster.
My husband couldn't believe how well this worked!

I bought this stud-finder after a frustrating weekend spent with my husband trying to locate studs behind the walls in our garage to hang our sea kayaks with his Bosch stud-finder. I did an online search for the best stud-finder, followed the link to this brand on Amazon, but a lower quality item. Since my husband always accuses me of being cheap, I upgraded to what I thought was a better model in the same brand. The weekend after it arrived, we hung a cabinet in our master closet. He was impressed that the studs found were exactly in the same place as the ones in his pictures of the framing in our new house!
Great Sensor

I'm a Finish Carpenter and imo these Sensors are the best on the market for combining speed, accuracy, and ease of use. You can for instance slide it along the wall in one hand and nail on baseboard with the other and accurately see the middle of the studs. I've used many other stud finder and this one is my favorite.

On a side not we've owned 5 of these, 1 was the original model and survived about 5 years of very heavy use, no qualms there. However we did have 1 of the other 4 (this model) go belly up when it was nearly brand new- it had only been used about 2 times and was still nice and shiny. It had normal alkaline batteries (you're not supposed to use rechargeables in these) It made me very sad, but we got ahold of customer service and they got me a new one just a couple days later, so I'm very happy with that.
Good sensor...it says pro (me) but honestly might be better for casual users

Just bought the Franklin M210 Pro Stud Sensor. I do home services, and have had about every stud finder out there. Used Zircon's for years. I had a Precision 5000 (basically the same sensor) for years, and dropped it down a flight of stairs while packing my stuff out of a house. Bought a case for the M210. I bought the M210 instead of the 710 because it had AC wire detector. I'm not sure I would put total trust in any of the sensors AC detection, but this seems to ID wires when near by. It also has about 20 lights to show where the stud(s) are, whereas the 710 has about 13. Both have the same number of sensors, so jury is out on whether this is really more refined. But for sure the smaller distance between LED seems to give you closer accuracy. It also has a spot for a golf type pencil....or I guess longer one will stick out of side. Handy place to put what you will almost always need to have with you when you are using a stud finder. Oh and also forgot to mention the real reason I like this sensor (and relatives), it doesn't require knowing where a stud is to find a stud. Most sensors have to be put against the wall in between studs to properly find a stud....so usually takes a few tries. That doesn't matter to this one. Will show one or more studs on the LEDs no matter where you put it against the wall. So far, like it alot. Will try to avoid the stairway tumble with this one.
Accurate and Precise. Only works with alkaline or fully-charged rechargeable batteries.

I own an older model of Franklin Sensors' stud finder, and I bought this newer model to increase the precision of my stud detection. The newer model has more LEDs with reduced spacing between LEDs, which makes it easier to identify the exact center of your studs. The new model appears to be very accurate and precise. I also appreciate the small bubble-level, which helps you keep the tool horizontal during usage, further improving the accuracy.

I'm just giving it 4 stars not 5 for 2 reasons:
1) The older+cheaper stud finder from Franklin Sensors seems to function fine with NiMH rechargeable AA batteries that are charged > 1.3 volts. This means that if your AA batteries are charged half-way, the older model will work fine. The newer model doesn't light up unless the AA batteries are >= 1.4 volts (maybe 1.35... maybe 1.38... I don't know exactly). The NOMINAL voltage of NiMH rechargeable AA batteries is 1.2 volts. In practice, high-quality AA NiMH rechargeable batteries (Sanyo Eneloop, Amazon Basics, etc) can reach a voltage slightly above 1.4 volts when they're fully charged. At 90% charge, the voltage generally drops somewhere between 1.3 and 1.4. I've used this stud finder with freshly-charged high-quality NiMH AA batteries, and it works great. On one project, I then tried to use it again the next day with those batteries after maybe just 20 minutes of usage the prior day, and it wouldn't turn on. After I recharged my batteries to 100%, it continued to work.

Alkaline AA batteries have a nominal voltage of 1.5V. I don't like to use disposable batteries because I find them to be wasteful. I have lots of devices that will function fine with rechargeable batteries that have a voltage > 1.2V or 1.3V. It's unfortunate that this stud finder can only work with batteries charged > 90%. For me, it just means that I have to fully charge a pair of batteries before I use the tool. Since I know this, it's OK, but it's inconvenient. I think I would still use the new one that requires fully-recharged batteries (>90%) over the older one that will work fine with moderately-charged batteries (>50%) since the new one is more precise and has the convenient integrated level. Still, Franklin Sensors could have added a voltage regulator circuit to this tool that would have allowed it to operate totally fine with batteries >1.3V, which would have made it much more convenient to use. If you're a professional remodeler who needs to find a lot of studs over the course of an entire day, you probably need to bring a spare pair of AA rechargeable batteries plus a charger to your job site and possibly recharge and swap the batteries at least once per day to use this tool.

2) They really could have done a better job designing the cover for the battery compartment. It's actually better on this model than the older model, but neither are great. It's cumbersome to open the battery compartment, and, over time, the cover can get loose while you're using the tool. They could have designed the cover with a simple hinge and thumbscrew or some other locking mechanism that would be less prone to loosening over time.

It's still a great tool. Despite the shortcomings, it's still the best stud finder that I've ever used. I mounted some slat walls and shelf brackets in a storage closet in my house, and I was able to easily find the center point of the studs behind my drywall with this stud finder.
