I purchased this gorgeous, modern looking commercial style. Coffee maker for my new coffee bar . The flavor of the coffee it produces is delicious.
it is very high-end looking. It brews a full 10 cups crazy quick. It's fun just to watch from the second of flipping the switch to how fast it starts coming out then to the last drop. The thermos style is so convenient. Just grab and go in the morning and I have piping hot pick me ups through out the entire day. It's effectively insulated for sure!
It definitely met and exceeded my expectations. Takes up much more space than the pot it replaced. But we'll worth it and also find it well worth the investment too.
It's sleek design makes it easy to wipe down and the thermos (without the top) does fine in the dishwasher.
I can honestly say I can tell a huge difference from my percolator (that I still sometimes use on the weekends) I just love it!

This machine makes very good regular coffee, through an all stainless steel drip basket.

At first, I was nervous about choosing the thermal carafe version, but now I am very glad I did. It keeps the coffee warm for quite some time (hours and hours), yet the outside is very touchable. I would have no hesitation putting this on a table without a trivet.

I deducted a star because I went through some hassle with the machine's height. No height was listed with the product ad, so I went to the manufacturer's sight and looked up the schematics, finding a height of 17.5 inches. My cabinet clearance in my kitchen is 18". When it arrived, it was 19"! Approxiamately 18" for the stainless unit, 7/16" for the plastic water inlet on top, and 3/8" for the feet on the bottom. We considered returning it, but really needed it. Thought about removing the bottom feet, or the finished front edge of our cabinetry in one section, but ultimately decided to put it in a less convenient spot, away from overhead cabinets. The thermal carafe is what really made our setup functional, because it can sit on the formica countertop anywhere, immediately after brew and not mar the surface, nor accidentally burn someone.
Also on the missing star is that SYBO doesn't sell a reusable filter that fits the basket. The largest substitute I found on A, is significantly smaller than what the machine could handle. Standard paper basket filters for 8-12 cup makers are too small and allowed grounds to spill over.
And one more thing, the basket often drips for a while after brewing is over and the machine is off, leaving water on the stainless platform, usually not enough to drip off the machine, but I wouldn't place this machine on a surface that could be damaged by moisture.

The company did offer some compensation for my troubles and I hope they will change the measurements in their schematics. I think with a little tweaking they would have an excellent product for residential use that is way less plastic-y than the majority of what is out there.

First, this will not work exactly like your old one - and it shouldn't. It's going to be as good or better, but you may need to adjust your coffee input.
2. I'm getting coffee at 190-195 deg F. About right, but hotter than my old one.
3. You need to manually turn off the heater when it stops brewing. That's a good thing. Leaving it on uses energy and runs the risk of overheating.
4. The brew time is about 10 minutes for a full carafe (12 6-oz cups). That's slower than my old one but fast enough. However, I'm grinding a little bit coarser now to compensate. It was over-extracting and giving some bitterness. A coarser grind fixes this.
5. The filter basket is very tight to slide in. I hope this loosens with use.

Overall, I'm very pleased. I work for very good coffee and I want it exactly the same every day. This will do it.

the only thing I didn't like was the power switch also controls the warmer to keep coffee warm. if you don't want coffee for a while you need to turn power off, and when you turn it back on you have to wait for water to heat up again.

We had issues with hot, steamy spray coming out of the top portion of the unit, spraying a fine hot mist all over, and ruining the side of our wood kitchen cabinetry. Not sure if there was just a defect, but facing the risk of being scalded by random bursts of steam, I called Amazon to tell them what I experienced. I was told by the Amazon customer service rep to throw it out, donate it, or do whatever we wanted, and that a refund would be issued. A follow up email from Amazon came within an hour of the conversation, confirming a refund would be issued. A month later, when the credit card bill arrived, they changed their mind and decided the unit needed to be returned before a refund would be processed. Not wanting anyone else to endure this malfunctioning device, I had cut the cord and threw it away. I was even encouraged by Amazon to try and collect the discarded unit from our local dump, in order for the refund to happen! Although Amazon was terrible to deal with, SYBO customer service ended up going above and beyond to offer a solution and make me happy. Thank you, SYBO!
