Since few reviews can be found, here are some initial observations. I purchased this based on lots of online research of the bewildering number of products and advice out there. I just finished mixing and spraying 5 one-gallon solutions of Komodo on exterior decking using my 1 gallon pump up sprayer.
The company customer service via email and phone was responsive and helpful. The product arrived very quickly. Application instructions are mostly via scanning a QR code and watching two short videos which were marginally useful. Detailed written instructions with photos would be better, imho. The 5 lb bag is not ziplocked and has no measurement devices, so I weighed out 1 lb using a household scale and banded the remaining bag shut. I am an experienced sprayer and my sprayer was clean prior to use. I mixed the solution thoroughly but still found the spraying to be annoying in that the spray tip periodically clogged up with some sort of debris or substance in the mix. Aside from that, the spray went on well onto my old redwood deck and fir subframing. I felt it was odorless and non-irritating. Once dried it left the expected hint of whitish speckled residue, which I used for a guide for where I have gone. Overspray was not a concern given its lack of toxicity but I rinsed patio walls/concrete off with water anyway. Given the relative ease of use, I will probably buy more.
The biggest question mark with this (and any fire retardant application) is whether or not it "works." I wish there was a good way to test the effectiveness of my application. For me it is almost an act of faith, and it also makes me feel like I did "something" to deal with the wildfire season upon us. Any guidance on home testing is appreciated. I have not yet sprayed any dead vegetation. I will update as needed.
