This is a very nice product but there is a metal plaque, which you can see in the pictures, that is solidly nailed to the edge. The topside, based on this plaque, had some slight imperfections in one piece of wood. This imperfection would have been a hassle to keep clean, so I needed to flip the counter and use the other side. This would have been fine (both sides are essentially the same), except for an upside down plaque. Plus, I esthetically, I really didn't want a plaque. Removing it was not easy. It's nailed on flush with 1/2 ring shank brass nails. Removing it caused some damage. Fortunately. I was able to reoair it so it isn't too terribly noticeable, if you aren't looking. Five stars without the imperfection and plaque.

I put it on top of a 24 X 48 inch stainless steel table and the one inch overhang is perfect! It's very flat with no wobble. It will stain if things don't get wiped up regularly. I did find that a light scrub with chlorine scouring powder did help a lot to remove any light discoloration. Super happy with it. Just maintain with butcher block oil and regular wipe downs.
