Roots have to be trimmed often because they get up in the motor. Other than that I am well pleased. Peppermint and oregano are thriving!

This my third IDOO 8. I have three IDOO 12's also. Both are great. I like the design of the power supply and water pump plug-in locations. the IDOO 12 is still very usable and I grow lettuce year around in both.

The instructions weren't as clear cut as they could have been, but the kit came with everything needed to get started.
My photos show progression on June 13 (about a week after planting) to June 19, then June 27. By that time, we really should have transplanted the herbs because the basil in particular grew like a weed! The pump made an awful noise one night shortly after, and stopped.
Moral of the story- have a plan in place to transplant your seedlings once they start to grow :-(
I attempted to clean out the tank and the pump's filter to see if it will work. So far no luck.
However for anyone needing instructions on cleaning the filter, here they are (because the manual isn't clear on this).
How to clean pump and filter:
- Unplug pump and electrical, empty tank and wash.
- Twist/remove the small funnel/spout on to the pump.
- Unscrew the 2 small screws connecting the pump case to the base.
- Lift off the case to reveal the pump. The pump has an end cap that can be separated. Inside this is a square mesh filter that can be rinsed.
- Put it all back together again and plug it in.
And whatever you do- don't let the plants grow too big or the roots will kill your pump!

The media could not be loaded. My daughter wanted this for Christmas, so I got it for her to try and learn to grow plants and flowers. I hope she doesn't use it to grow anything else! Ha! It was a little hard for me to figure out how to use it. The instructions weren't super clear to me, which is the reason for four stars instead of five. Being 15 years old, it was too hard for her to figure out on her own. I can't say how well it works yet since we just put the first seeds in, but I will update the experience as it grows....hopefully!!
UPDATE: I have successfully started three plants and potted them. I started two more a week ago and they're already sprouting. This has been so much fun watching everything grow daily. It's been a great gift idea!!

Light panel stopped working less than 2 months after started using it. called idoo on a Sunday to find business hours and then hung up with out leaving a message. Monday they called saying they had a missed call from me and started the warranty process. I received the a new light panel 4 days after I received their email. Well packed and secure.
