I am a former percussionist (high school) who wanted to get back into it in my later years but did not have the space or want to spend the money for a electronic kit until I felt I would keep at it. While it may look a bit toyish this thing ended up being everything I wanted it to be. No batteries to change since they are rechargeable and USB. The charge lasts an incredible long time. The sound is very realistic and with the external jack I can cover songs from my phone etc. and it matches up well. I am fairly fast with my rudiments, rolls etc and the thing keeps up with me not missing a beat. The only thing it does not do well is capture the intensity of the beats hard or soft will give you the same sound. The pedals for the kick and hi-hat are a bit lacking but they work and are functional so I consider it fortunate that is has them so it better simulates a real set. The headphone jack is essential since I don't want to bother others in the house. The sticks that come with it however are basically toys, so I highly suggest getting better sticks if you are not buying as a toy for a kid. If you want something that is in-expensive but nice for practice and gives you pretty realistic sound this works.

The media could not be loaded. Okay, this isn't as good as having the real thing. But, who can afford a REAL drum kit with all of the components in this practice kit? Who has the room to just set it up and leave it?

I got this set, so I could download some 'how to' videos and see if I can actually learn to play the drums. So far, I have learned that I do have a good sense of rhythm and can actually do different things with my left and right hands (I'm not really ambidextrous. But, there is a flow that I can follow).

The kit has good sound quality, from the included stereo speakers. It also has a 'line out' jack so you can add a headphone set or your own speaker. Like I did in the demo. This kit is very versatile. Many different sound types, rhythms, speeds, etc. It will record your tracks. The kick and cymbal pedals don't really mimic the real deal as far as how it feels. But, if you get past that and just focus on the sound, you're great. The line in jack is great, for adding your own music to play to.

I don't know if I will ever get good enough to play the drums at our church services. But, that's my goal. And, I know that this kit will help me get far. Good purchase.

I have been wanting my kids to learn drums but not sure if they are interested in it for long term since it's not cheap. We got this instead for initial stage. Both of my kids love it. With this price, the quality of speaker is much better than I thought. And it has the options that if we have the music with drums or not so that we can practice on our own. Highly recommend.
