Pleasantly surprised.

Update 10/14/21: I have had these amps for a while now and they are still going strong. Bought 2 more in addition to the original 2. I would refer anyone, who asks, to ise them.

Original review: Overall, I am very pleased with the Rockville RPA14.

This amp pushes a pair of Yamaha SW218v's with ease. I don't think the rated peak wattage is accurate on a per channel basis at 4 ohm as described though, I believe it to be lower. However, I anticipated it to be more powerful than my subs could handle and would have had to adjust gain down on my driverack anyhow and sized the amp to speaker in that fashion.

Now that I got that info out of the way, let me hit some solid points.

I ran this amp full bore this evening. Both channels max gain. Dropped gain down completely for the subs in my driverack. Unity on mixer channel for my mp3 player, LR on Unity. Raised gain on subs in driverack until it barely started clipping a little since in a while, then backed it down 3 dB.

Let me just say, it's the first time I heard the true voice of my subs. They were singing their low tones like they should be, and doing it wonderfully. I was pleasantly surprised how well this amp sounds. Very pleased with how my subs are hitting with this amp. Now in a few weeks, I will be adding 2 more sub cabinets to my front of house, I already have a second RPA14 that is supposed to deliver tomorrow. That one is for the new pair of SW218v's I am ordering next week. I truly can not wait to hear this setup. Reliability is the only area that I will need to keep an eye on as that comes with time of use. If it holds up well, then it's a win win all the way around.
Powerful amp

I like the power produced by this amp. Its powering 6 tower speakers with 15 inch 2000 watt 4 ohm speakers and tweeters and mids. I also have 6 full speakers on top of each tower as satellites for a total of 12 full range speakers. Powers all to the point of nearly breaking out the storm windows. Great power and only at half power. Cons are, its extremely heavy which isn't a problem if its in a cabinet or on a separate stand or enclosure. Another con is that it doesn't have any other functions such as Bluetooth. This is not really a problem for me as I was only looking for a powerful amp, but for the price a few extras would have been nice. Not necessary, but nice. The input and outlets are good but rca inputs would be a great addition. The 1/4inch/xlr inputs are very good but make sure you get male xlr cables for the input. Female for the other outfit for powered sub or linking amps. Db level and temperature readout is great and precise. Overall great product but could use a couple of extras. Power is Very satisfying.
RPA12 Great product!

I purchased 2 12 inch Rockville 1128 subs and had em powered by a protect 2500 peak and it barely got em started. But this yeah it hits pretty good I must say and the link lets me drive my other 10 inch klipsh sub. The only thing I wish I had done was got the 4 ohm version of the subs. But 2 12's @ 8 ohms and 2 sets of Rockville T150 towers it's an awesome sound that you can actually feel all the way to the bone. Of course I don't wanna leave out my 2-15 prorecks @ 2500 peak and a harbinger 4115 @ 2500 that's a total of 12,000 peak with the new rpa12 @ 5000. I think I'll purchase another one to drive my klipsh f 200 towers to complete the circle. Perfect for my home studio guitar playing . Wanna get rock ? They have a competitive product in quality for the price. Don't be afraid to buy Rockville it's good stuff.
Pretty close to spec at 8Ohm output but 4Ohm is far below rated output

We measured this on an Audio Precision 555 into 8 ohms. Clipping with one channel driven occurred at 612W, a bit short of spec but hard to complain for the price. Power in BTL mode at 8 ohms was an astounding 1800W at 1KHz, near the rated 2000W. At 40Hz output was closer to 1500W. 20Hz went into limiting/protection at around 1KW, so we will use a high-pass filter at 30Hz.

Unfortunately, performance into 4Ohms was nowhere near close to rated specs, the limiter kicked in with both channels driven at just 700W, barely any more output than 8Ohms, and the BTL mode at 4Ohms maxed out at 1KW, so it's clear why they don't publish a bridged 4Ohm spec.

For our application, we use 8Ohm drivers so this is a good fit, though it is worth noting that doing full power testing at 20Hz caused the amp to go into protection below 1KW in bridged mode.

In addition, as you can see in the measurements, using the LPF in bridged mode did nothing to increase power but it did increase distortion in the sub band, so ideally use an external crossover.

The "Peak" output numbers are a fiction as the amp immediately went into limiting at the peak power, you can see that in a few of the measurements where the traces actually double-back after clipping.

Another positive thing was being able to call for tech support and to actually speak with someone.

All in all, this is a great unit for a sub or for an 8Ohm speaker, but it falls short on promise for 4ohms.
