We used the Wisdom Essentials test kit on our rescue puppy. As per the instructions, you need to roll the little bristle against their gums twice for several turns, and it actually went much better than I thought it would with our active and excitable 4 month old puppy. My husband held her, and I was able to get the samples. We got one, waited until a little later, and did the second one.
Communication with Wisdom Panel has seamless. Easy to mail in the samples, they gave updates via email, and our results were in early.
We had a fun breed "reveal" of the results with our young adult kids. :) We got some breeds we expected and several surprises!
I didn't upload our puppy's picture before the results were available, and the physical traits they said were likely for her (coloring, markings, furnishings, size, type of fur, etc"¦) based on her genetics, line up with her very well on all counts they list.

Emmett, my 14 year old boy, was noted on Petfinder as "Cattle Dog". I looked at my big headed boy and knew there was something else in there. I ordered my Wisdom Panel and swabbed his gross little mouth. In a few weeks I got the results! Emmett is a Pitty Mix! I knew that he was some kind of Pit, but I loved seeing the small %'s of breeds which included 12% Chow Chow and 6% Chihuahua?! He is 60 pounds, smooth white hair with black dots. Biggest shock of 2023. You can also pay for health tests without having to reswab which might be helpful if your animal possibly has a risk of health issues. I will 100% get more of these for future dogs.

I adopted a...supposedly...approx 2 y/o, 25 lb, F Chihuahua mix, who was rescued literally MINUTES B4 the only road to, & then the actual shelter were both WASHED AWAY in Texas, after more than 4" of rain fell in less than an hour, causing a 'flash flood'...More than 45 cats/dogs would have SURELY drowned, if a local moving company didn't offer 2 large trucks to rescue...then transport...them to shelters here in PENNSYLVANIA...where over 1500 pets, rescued from similar circumstances, were also sent...Then they organized A MASS/low cost, 2 day Adoption Event that was held as soon as the 2 week 'quarantine' for out of State pets allowed...& during that time, ALL were neutered/fully vaccinated...& microchipped!! The same week was 'PRIME DAYS', & THIS was the test that my Vet suggested...AND SIGNIFICANTLY PRICE REDUCED! As promised, I got her results within 2 weeks. I then made an appt for GINGER's 'wellness' check...with her ancestery/genetic testing for their records...BTW, she is 33% Chihuahua & 1-2% MANY other breeds...Most likely 'Dad' was a purebred & 'Mom' was a "HEINZ 57'...LOL, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, she tested NEGATIVE for predisposition of... almost 300...diseases/conditions that can now be detected by genetic markers...AND they wiill keep her sample to test for others/update me as science advances! Also, her exam showed, while she IS fully grown, he actually found...& 'helped' her last adult tooth finish replacing her last 'baby' tooth...without causing Ginger ANY discomfort...so she is no more than 10-12 mos old!! BTW, just like ANY 'Baby', I kept that tooth for the 'Scrapbook' of her 'milestones/memories'...GOD BLESS THOSE WHO RISKED THEMSELVES RATHER THAN ALLOW HELPLESS "FURBABIES", TRAPPED IN KENNELS SUFFER CERTAIN/CRUEL DEATHS!!! My Vet...of 20 yrs...STRONGLY recommends this test for ALL, healthy dogs up to 7 yrs of age...& those for cats up to 10 yrs of age.

We had a suspicion that our shelter dog was a lab and herding mix, but we weren't sure what exactly. The directions in the kit to take the sample and activate your account our very clear. Shipping took about 3 business days to arrive at the lab and our sample began to process the next day. Our results were sent to us after 10 days (including weekends). I really like that we got a report of our dog's breed makeup, family tree outline, traits, and health traits. Now we have a better idea of what kind of training and enrichment our dog needs to be setup for successful, positive behavior based on his breed makeup.

This test was easy to administer, only took 14 days from mailing to results. We adopted from a rescue, who knew mom, and confirmed she was a toy poodle. Dad was unknown. I was excited to get his results back. We found mom was a poodle/spaniel mix and dad was a pure bred pug! I am thrilled, ! Love Small dogs and pugs are one of my favorite breeds. I also found out that he has a genetic marker for disc disease. I will be getting our pet stairs and ramps out to protect his back. We also found out approximate size and coat variations. Over all I am extremely pleased with the cost, speed and depth of detail for this DNA test kit.
