I wasn't sure what to expect out of a product called sea grapes, but this wasn't at all what I was expecting. They come dehydrated in a pack about the size of a deck of cards and after you re-hydrate them, it's about two cereal bowls worth of strands of sea grapes. Obviously, they are names for their appearance and not their flavor, so I was expecting something akin to seaweed, but honestly, I didn't taste anything. The stems and the skin had no flavor and the "pop" just fills your mouth with water. These weren't even salty, which I kind of wish they were (at least that is a flavor). They apparently have some nutritional value, so they'd be an easy addition to a salad or a garnish, but they really won't add much.
Tasty

This is a bag of semi-dehydrated sea grapes packed in salt water. The ingredients are sea grapes (Caulerpa lentilliffra) and salt water. The sea grapes come packaged in a plastic bag inside a heavier duty plastic bag inside plastic wrap. To use them, you open all 3 plastic bags, then pour the contents into a 1 quart bowl. Fill the bowl with water, and the sea grapes miraculously swell to fill the entire bowl. Let them sit for a few minutes, then rinse a few times, and then you can eat them raw, in salads, sushi, etc. Fully rehydrated, each strand is about 3" long. The label claims that 1 serving is 100 gm, which is the entire package. It's hard to imagine eating that much for real in one serving. More like 10-20 strands would be a serving for a normal person, so you might get 4-6 servings per container. The 100 gm defined "serving" provides 19 calories, 0.1 gm fat, 0 gm carbs, 1.1 gm protein, and 255 mg salt. The product was sourced in Vietnam.

I like the flavor of these sea grapes. The aren't fishy. They have a pleasant slightly salty slightly florid flavor and the little grapes burst in your mouth when you chew. As seaweed goes, this is not very fibrous, so it's relatively easy to eat. The sodium content is also fairly low compared to other seaweeds. Overall, this is a good choice for an exotic seaweed flavor.
Different from seaweed

It is my first time trying sea grape. It is very different from the seaweed we have from the Japanese restaurant. The sea grape looks very tiny from the package, but it starts expanding after soaking in water. I forgot about it the first time, so the salty taste is gone. I end up mixing it with garden as a salad. I soak the second one for 8 minutes, it still has some salty taste and it is not too bad. I like the popping feeling in the mouth though. It is a good snack to eat like 10 branches each time.
These are healthy, low in calories, slightly salty, & have a wonderful bite; VEGAN by default

I never heard of sea grapes before. This is a one-serving package of 100 grams (3.5 ounces). It is only 18.5 calories for the entire package and has small amounts of Vitamin A and protein and fiber.

Per the package directions, I soaked these in water for 5-7 minutes. Since I do not like a salty taste, I rinsed them several times to reduce the sodium content. These "grapes" expand and are ready to eat after that. They are attached on the stems and the entire stem with grapes (the size of caviar) can be eaten.

They are practically tasteless except for a slight saltiness; however, I love the mouth feel. These pop in my mouth when eaten. This would be perfect in a salad.

These are expensive at $10.39 ($12.99 minus 20%) per serving but that serving can be eaten over several days if stored in the refrigerator. This is a product of Vietnam and by default, these are vegan.
Salty Sea Grapes, Lots of Bits

I've eaten a lot of sea grapes in my life. These are good quality. They are clean in the package, with fresh-smelling water and no grit. Compared to some other brands, this was saltier and had more small loose bits. The strands were not very long, either.

Just soak for a few minutes and rinse at least 2 times. Tastes great with soy sauce and Korean red pepper flake. Or, add to ramen, a hot pot, or seaweed soup. Good hot or cold. Sea grapes don't last after soaking, so be ready to eat them with the family.
