I hesitated to buy this because, quite honestly, I got a beautiful new macbook pro and was trepidatious about sticking a pocket onto this beautiful machine. I'm usually a minimalist and prefer a clean laptop but I couldn't look past how useful it looked.
Reviews said it could be removed without damage. It's only $15. I figured I'd try it.
I use it all the time and do not even think twice about the aesthetic. Truly one of those moments where function > fashion.
First of all it's not THAT bad looking. It matches the space gray well enough and doesn't cover up the apple logo where I have it placed.
Second and most importantly, it's just so damn useful. I've been editing videos for over 15 years and have endless memories of me having to schlep my laptop and drive all over a house/office/apartment. I'd worry about it falling off a table or disconnecting or getting spilled on etc. Those days are over.
It's one of those little purchases that goes a long way. I can work in my bed, grab my laptop and head to the kitchen or outside, and never have to worry about anything getting disconnected or dropped. Also nice when you're on a plane and want to edit on the tray table with a SSD still connected.
If you're on the fence about it because you don't want anything stuck on your laptop -- I get it. I was you.
But if you're editing a lot, using SSDs or HDs small enough to fit in this thing, and desire portability then this is absolutely a big bang for your buck purchase that helps make life a lot easier.

Great product!

I used to fumble around with my added harddrive. It made me concerned for the integrity of the ports to have to unplug and plug it back in. It also used to get in my way on my tiny desk. Now, I always know where it is. In my opinion, the elasticity is perfect. I'm so happy I found this. I highly recommend it.
Good, Secure Fit

I'm using it with the SanDisk 1TB Extreme Go SSD. Works great!
