The media could not be loaded. I was very pleases with this set as I opened the bag. Unlike some other sets, the mallets seem to be very solidly made. They are all solid wood, except for the grip, which is wrapped around the wood handle. Other sets have plastic connectors in the mallet heads that break. The mallets make a nice, solid hit to the balls.
I used to play with my family growing up at family gatherings. I've been looking for a set to play at my family gatherings now. These look like they'll do that job well for years to come.

The balls in this set have what feels like a vinyl covering. Each of the rubberwood mallet heads and handles is made from strong hardwood. Each mallet handle is wrapped with a material like what I use on my bicycle handlebars. That will give the user a better grip while keeping the mallet handles free of discoloration from the oils on players' hands.
Even the wire wickets are made of a nice, heavy wire. They are stronger than I've ever seen in a croquet set and I was around to play the game in the 1950s. To wrap it all up, the carrying case holds all the pieces with room to spare. It is a great way to give long-term protection to the set.

Boy did this bring back childhood memories. We had hours of fun playing croquet this weekend. It's beyond easy to set up. The clubs and balls are nice solid sturdy material and the colors are beautiful. Everything held up well to a lot of hitting and smacking. If you have never played Croquet, you're missing out.
