I should start by saying that I received two reds and one green, no purple, but I really didn't care about color, just the price and that it took normal batteries and not button. My cats like chasing the light and it may seem odd to others, but I was worried about how the cats would respond because the small 15 year old pointer I was replacing had a chain on it that my cats knew when they heard that sound it was time to play. Take it or leave it, but the button on these is loud enough for them to recognize the sound now so I just have to click it once to get them excited. Very happy with this purchase.

I've purchased other laser pointers over the years and these are the best. My cats love them. Works as expected, strong light. Doesn't lose focus as much as others when you shine them at further distances . Comes in a pack of 3. My only disappointment is that one of the laser pointers was defective, but the other two work fine.

The green and violet lasers are NOT for pets and are not eye safe. But with good safety measures, these can be fun and a good source of parts for hobbyists.

I do not have a laser power meter, but Torque Test Channel on YouTube measured these lasers and found the green and violet to be well over 5mW (~87mW for the green and ~43mW? for the violet). These lasers are class 3B instead of class 3R, and you should definitely not look directly into the beam unless you want eye damage. The violet might seem dim, but since human eyes are not very sensitive to this near-UV wavelength, the laser power is actually much more than you think it would be based on brightness alone. Human eyes are very sensitive to green light, so the green laser appears like it has more power than it actually does (but it is still a class 3B laser). The red laser actually might be 5mW or close (based on TTC's measurements), which makes it safer, but still, do not point it at your eyes or look into the beam.

Anyways, these are actually pretty cool, and with the green laser, you can see the beam in a dark room. When doing this, it's probably best to not look at the spot on the wall for very long and to wear goggles and record video if you want to be extra cautious. The violet laser can also do some cool fluorescence tricks (probably best to aim it at something far away with no one around to minimize exposure). Keep in mind that the green laser is a DPSS laser (diode-pumped solid state), which means that it also emits invisible infrared at 1064nm and 808nm as well as green at 532nm. The infrared wavelengths are not as strong when the green is brightest, but they are still a safety risk because you can't see them and your blink reflex will not prevent eye damage (like it does with a visible Class 3R laser). The crystals that convert 808nm light to 532nm light are also very sensitive to temperature, so in the cold, the green laser may appear dim or not working. DO NOT look at the laser aperture when it's on even if you can't see light since it could be emitting infrared (likely is) that could damage your eyes. Also, do not point these lasers at the sky since that's illegal or in a legal gray area (not exactly sure as I've seem conflicting evidence) and there are serious fines for pointing lasers at planes. The green can be used for star pointing since the beam is visible in the dark, which is cool, but you have to take safety precautions that you can read about online.

These are also almost definitely not built to last. I've seen other reviews that said that the violet laser and the green laser have died. The violet laser could have died because of an underengineered driver that unintentionally sends current spikes to the diode that reduce its lifetime. However, if you are a laser hobbyist and/or electronics enthusiast, this is a good source of cheap laser diodes with housings, collimating lenses, and driver circuit boards (though the violet boost driver is likely not good for anything (maybe driving LEDs)).

I would recommend watching some videos and reading some articles on laser safety before using these things. Lasers can be really fun, but they can also harm your eyes. Make sure you know you are buying HANDHELD lasers and not laser POINTERS (even though these are advertised as pointers). This is more of a product for laser enthusiasts and not pet enthusiasts.

Got these for my cat seeing as I would always run out of battery on the ones from the pet store and it was not worth paying for the small replacement batteries. He loves all of the colors and I have gotten hours of play time from them. I will say that if traveling with them, they tend to come apart in the middle when they screw together. I am still missing half of the one light. But great investment for your furry ones who love to chase lights! And it just uses normal batteries. What else could you ask for?

I bought this set of pointers to entertain my cat, Tobias. The LED is bright and he seems to like it. I didn't realize there were different colors, but he didn't seem to mind either.

Each pointer requires one AAA battery (not included), which I had to purchase. Tobias likes the pointer, but there is sort of a 'ghost blob' that shows up further than about eight feet away, which sometimes frightens/confuses him, so it's best to use it in close range. The build quality feels low-end China-made, but it is working ok, and four were included.

Most importantly, I want to stress the importance of givng a small treat to your pet after he or she catches the dot. When misused, these types of toys can cause animal stress and anxiety if they're not given positive reinforcement.
