Exceeded Expectations in Regard to Sturdiness
MI in DC✓ Verified Purchase•October 28, 2023
I'll be honest, I expected a flimsy, un-sturdy ladder I could use for quick trips up and down the side of my house. I planned to use this ladder for only very minor outdoor cleaning, repairs, etc. I liked it could be stored in small places and still offer a 12 foot reach.
Color me surprised. When used correctly, meaning the legs are not more than 3 feet away from the wall, this ladder incredibly sturdy. When I pulled it out of the box, the overall heft of the device impressed me. As I extended it upward, it never felt loose or flimsy. Each section seats securely in the extended position... even the very top one. The ladder does not sway and barely (I would almost imperceptibly) bows. I am over 200 pounds in weight, and I did not fell any bowing. All in all, it feels very well made and the engineering is top notch. Raising and lowering (and it's designed to keep from crushing one's fingers when lowering) is a breeze. The tie strap is heavy duty nylon, and the velcro tie is heavy duty as well.
I am so glad I purchased this. It filled my ladder needs much better than I ever expected.

Did the job, is a bit wobbly feeling

I had to get this to change the battery in a smoke alarm in my house with vaulted ceilings. I was concerned that it would damage my paint or drywall since I had to lean it against a wall, but it ended up being okay.
I thought the ends and top of each rung was covered in rubber to help prevent damage to interior walls, but actually its just plastic. This means that I could see it potentially causing some damage to paint or walls.
Its easy to expand and was plenty large enough for my needs, but it definitely felt wobbly while I was climbing it (I weigh about 170 for the record). Nothing super crazy, but I could just tell that it wasn't quite as secure as a proper rigid metal ladder would have been, and I only expanded it about 1/2 to 3/4 of its full length. Can't imagine how it would feel if I did the full length and climbed up it.
Ultimately I needed a way to change those batteries and my 4ft step ladder wasn't nearly tall enough, so this did the job, and was the least expensive thing I could find at ~$100.

Haven't used it yet but is very well made. It's not exactly light weight but because of its size I don't think I would trust it if was very light weight.
Excellent, albeit Chinese, engineering!

I had an 8' collapsible ladder I used to access the top of my RV. Problem was my RV was 10' high. Very scary trying to manage getting down without getting hurt. I decided on this brand and model, a 12.5' version. I couldn't be more impressed. I am 230 lbs and this ladder barely flexes when I climb it. It has a very solid, well-made feel to it. I feel secure and safe when using it.
I highly recommend this ladder.

Sturdy, Indeed!

The mfr. claims that this ladder is sturdier than the rest. I'd have to agree... it supports my donut-fueled 6'3" frame with ease. Sure, it weighs a little more, but it's still lighter than a conventional ladder and more versatile. I use this to climb onto my RV's roof and it's great for that purpose. Very happy with this ladder!
