I bought this for my crafty type daughter when she was 7. I helped her with it initially, but she soon took over. It ended up looking just like the picture. She then went on to the horse and fish mosaic. Tile cutters do help if you want to trim off a bit. She has claimed mine. The backing and material stand up to quite a bit. A pipe burst in our house - in January and this was right in the main downpour. It had just been completed and I thought it was a goner along with the carpeting and some books, but amazingly it survived and looked just fine after it dried off. It is now in a shadowbox in my daughters room. This kit gave her the confidence to try other detail oriented projects. I wish there were more designs!
Great mosaic kit

Directions are sparse. Some of the colors are hard to determine as close to each other in tone. Didn't realize some cutting of tiles would be necessary.
Fun project

I have always loved elephants so this one was a great one for me. I was a bit intimidated by having to break the stones"”I just used a hammer and did the best I could. Wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Note, the bottom green stones looked black. So before I figured that out, I had used some teal/green stones. Wasn't many but I didn't have enough teal/green ones, use them judiciously and don't throw out any pieces until the end!

Update:
We started making it and it's a lot of work but also a lot of fun! Defiently a Good project for summer break.
We also bought a second set for $10 at Amazon warehouse deals which is a much more reasonable price.
My 7 years old need help mostly to cut pieces.
It's very small, which you can understand from the size so that is my fault.
The pieces are attached by water. Not as many colors as shown in the picture. Its basically a white and 3 different blues.
The picture is taped on a thin plywood. I don't even think you can put concrete in between because the pieces are so small and not enough space between each other.
