It took me a good 30 minutes to figure out how to get the USB function working & I'm pretty tech savvy, but once I did, it worked great! The two issues I ran into were:
1. Figuring out how to get the flash drive (FAT 32, less than 32 GB) formatted correctly.
2. Once the recording was done, I had to use Garage Band for Mac to stitch together the chunks of songs it seemed as separate tracks.
Overall, still a good product for the price!

This unit is not complicated or fancy but it does its intended job well. I am using it to record some old teaching tapes into an MP3 audio format so that I can listen on my desktop as well as store the teachings for future reference and use. You use this cassette unit like you would a conventional player. If you insert a USB thumb drive on the side and press the RECORD button on the back of the unit, everything you listen to will be recorded on the drive as an MP# audio recording. When you are done, simply stop recording by pushing the RECORD button again and removing the drive for transference to some other media.

I am delighted I got this for myself. Purchased one for my daughter and thought why not get a cassette player for myself, after all it is my cassette collection. I use external speakers and am very happy. Remember I am old enough to remember poor sound quality and mono cassette players so I am not as fussed by not having "perfect" sound. It's more than good enough for me.

Does good job in converting Stereo cassettes to MP3, just converted few old cassettes to MP3, there is bit of noise in the MP3, which can be cleaned by a software & the final MP3 sounds very good.
