I need to keep my phone backed up, and I didn't want to pay the lames at Google a monthly fee for a pittance of storage after they canceled my unlimited storage. So I needed a flash drive with a USB-C connector. This one seemed like a good deal, and it was, although you can get double the capacity for the same price if you don't need USB-C. At the time I bought this, it cost me $25.85. It has five times the storage of Google's storage plan that costs $30 per year. So yeah ... bye, Google.
To back up an Android phone, just attach it, then use CX File Explorer (included on Samsungs) or some other file management app to copy over any or all of the files in your internal storage. It's a little slow, so have your phone charged or put it on a wireless charger while you back up.
This has three connectors: USB-C, USB-A (for older computers) and micro USB for older mobile devices. (Flip up the USB-A to reveal the micro USB.)
The housing seems sturdy and durable. Overall the only change I would make to it would be to include a cover for both ends to help keep dust out of the connectors. With the current design, you can only cover one end at a time.

The unit I have now is a replacement. The first one worked for less than a day and failed (when I plugged it in it showed-up as a 'micro sd card reader)'. Support through Amazon was great! I wanted to try to fix it through software and they tried extensively to help but it wasn't possible with normal software tools. They replaced it and the replacement has been working okay for about a week, so far.
I've successfully accessed/used it via all of its ports. The body of the unit and guard are metal and seems pretty sturdy (compared with other I have that are plastic).
I gave it 4-stars instead of 5 because the guard on the unit can only protect one of the ports ends at the same time and there was no way to give incremental starts (I'd have given it 4.5). I typically carry these things in my pocket - it would have been good to have a cap the USB-C port side or some other technique to allow both sides to be protected during storage/transport.
