I absolutely loved it, it was super convenient and it heats up very quickly. Heated water to a roaring boil in a 12 quart pot within 20 minutes max and lasted well over 4 months for me. (I moved and had given it away) all in all I'd buy again!

Ok I have mixed feelings about this burner or hot plate, it heats up extremely fast boiled my soup like a champ definitely then today I cooked some hash browns and I had to keep turning the knob to Med then after a while it switched off the light then I turned the knob down from Med then brought it back up to Med and the light clicked back on so yeah it heats up quick at first but you have to keep watch over it because you have to keep that heat up enough to cook your food.
Now when I first got mine the box was open on one side and the hot plate looked as though it had been used but I was desperate and needed to cook so I went on ahead and used it! It doesn't exactly lay flat instead it tilts and it's like I had to hold on to my skillet to keep it from flipping over. But if you need someplace to cook your food then I do recommend this burner umm the price was good I don't know the shelf life of this but I hope it lasts until the end of this year! It doesn't give off any smell no chemical burning as of yet there was some smoke but that's because it gets extremely hot during first use! Yeah I needed this and I can now cook my food!

This little jewel gets HOT. I wish it had a rheostat to adjust the heat, instead of the thermostat, of course, but I understand that would have to increase the price considerably. I appreciate the fact that in the description they mention that it controls the heat by turning off and on. (Virtually all inexpensive electrical appliances work this way, not all mention that they do). I also appreciate the fact that there is a warning on the body of the appliance saying "hot surface", because it does indeed get hot. The main thing for me is that it gets enough heat into the pan to boil the water, to cook the food, do the job. Five stars from me!

Only been a week, but everything works great so far. The real test will be useful life, as the last coil hot plate I owned (from a different company) started out great but lasted only four months.
Update: Delivered on 03/13, and failed on 07/10 (again only four months. I liked it while it lasted, but expected more!
