BROCCOLI AND BACON SALAD STARTER KITS 10CT

I needed to change up the way I make vegetables so I thought this would help spruce it up. I would be careful with the amount of powder/seasoning used because it is sugary. It's a bit on the sweeter side. The bacon bits are yummy. It does taste good. This package comes with 10 boxes. It's not limited to just season broccoli, I've tried it on potatoes and brussel sprouts. All works!
So good

I am guilty of buying the precut fresh express type salad mixes all the time, but then only making it through half of the bag before the rest goes bad. I like that these packages have some of the "goody packages" that I buy those bagged salads for, but none of the precut veggie parts that are going to go bad on me before i can get through them all. It's not getting through the produce that is necessarily a problem for most families, I think it's the fact that when it's all precut (and tossed with preservatives"¦ !) it doesn't last as long. Separating out the add on packets from the fresh produce makes sense to me.
So in reality there isn't a whole lot in this box - a mix to combine with your mayo, seeds, and the bacon bits. Not super fancy, but at the same time a nice start/foundation to hopefully keep you on the straight and healthy salad path for dinner by giving a bit of a head start.
I was a bit dubious about the "fake bacon" made from TVP, but the bacon bit pieces are surprisingly tasty and nice & crunchy. On the plus side none of the weird chewy bacon pieces that have too much fat on them when it's all a crunchy TVP!
We served this up over purple cabbage and added some craisins and carrots. I think it would also be good with something like cubed apples or eggs tossed in. You can keep it as simple as you want or make it fancier.
Is it worth the cost? If it inspires something besides Mac & cheese at the table yes. If you are already buying and successfully getting through bagged salad mixes? You will probably be underwhelmed.
