Awesome innovative solution, especially for apartments!

My wife would often leave the door open when she left the bedroom, allowing smells from the rest of the house to waft into the room. This solution worked great. The sticky seems to be slowly peeling (our door is textured so it didn't get a perfect seal) despite prepping with alcohol and drying before applying. My only concern is that it might tear away from the door unexpectedly (I've had problems with these types of sticky pads in the past) so I will be installing the hook with a little super glue instead. It can be easily removed for when we want to leave the door open and has quite some zip to it if I just let it reel itself back in. The screws seem to be the perfect offset for the beams but I seem to have missed 2/4 and only got drywall on the other half yet it holds up sufficiently (added some super glue to be sure).
Simple and works

The media could not be loaded. It does what it's supposed to! It's very strong for a light door like I have. And it's not very quiet. I was hoping it would allow my dog to get in and out but my dog is too scared of how strong it is haha!
Does Exactly What I Needed

I have to admit that I had my doubts that it would work for me when I ordered it. So much so, that I had another solution as a "plan B" if this didn't work out. It came with no instructions, so I returned to this Amazon page to review setting it up. I think it's been about a month now and so far, it is working and doing exactly what I needed, keeping a door closed to a staircase. I'm using it indoors on a wooden door using the 3M double sided mount adhesive that it comes with. It is staying on the wall and the door. If this door didn't stay closed, a life could be lost falling down the staircase.
UPDATE: Eventually the 3M double-sided adhesive gave way and the device sling-shot across the room. Thankfully no one was hurt. To be fair, it does come with screws to secure it that way, but there are no studs in the wall where I need to go, and I would need to get anchors to put it into sheet-rock without a stud there. So I opted go with my "plan B" instead. Also being that it did not contain instructions, I realized afterwards that I applied both included hooks to the one door and now the other unit included does not have a hook. I didn't realized I needed to break them apart first. Again if it included instructions, this would had been avoided.

This door closer does exactly what it claims and does it well.

I purchased two of these. One for a storm/screen door that had a broken self/closer and the other for an inside door of a room that I wanted to keep our dog out of, but which a family member would often forget to close. In both situations, the closer worked exactly as the promotional material described. They were well worth the price.
One end of the device anchors to the doorway and the other end anchors to the door. For the door end, a plastic adhesive-based anchor is provided. I did not use that. For the screen door, I used an anchor that already was on the door, for the prior traditional spring close. For the interior door, i screwed in a small hook. In both instances, the door closer can easily be temporarily disabled by just sliding the door end off its anchor.
For the screen/storm door, the door is firmly held in place sufficiently to withstand outdoor wind or the nudging of a pet. For the interior door, it keep my dog out of that room.
