This new ZFlip4 is the latest in the vertically foldable ZFlip series from Samsung. This year the upgrades from the ZFlip3 are not massive, but there are a few: a slightly slimmer appearance, a bigger battery, and some software improvements for example. Are these upgrades worth the $1000? Here is some info to help you decide:

Main Upgrades:
-Body: Matte back instead of glossy, Gorilla Glass Victus+ on back instead of regular Victus, slightly slimmer hinge and bezels, different color options
-Battery: 3700mAh battery (supports 25W wired/15W wireless charging) ; ZFlip 3 was 3300 mAh (15W wired/10W wireless charging)
-Camera: Improved image processing
-New Chipset/CPU/GPU: Snapdragon 8+, faster Cortex CPUs, Adreno 730 (Zflip3 was Snap 888, Adreno 660)
-Software changes: More customization of outer screen, more widgets, some increased functionality in Flex mode apps

I've had the ZFlip3 for a year, and it is hard to say whether this is worth the $1000 to upgrade. The biggest differences I've noticed in day-to-day use are the battery lasting longer and charging faster, and the customization of the outer screen. The cameras look about the same to me in most cases, though in some bright outdoor pictures I have noticed a little more detail in the Zflip4. These are nice little improvements, but they might not be worth $1000 to you.

If you are NEW to flip phones and trying to decide whether to get this one, there are a few things to consider. Keep in mind that for the price, the specs on this phone do not compare to non-foldable phones. The S22 Ultra is currently less expensive at about $900, and has MUCH better cameras, better screen, better battery, better dust resistance, and even a stylus. Even the regular S22 has slightly better specs, and it is currently as low as $650 (or $499 renewed). So, you are really paying about $350 for the ability to fold your phone in half. Is that worth it to you? It might be, if the compact size is that important to you; like if you are a nurse that wears scrubs, and this phone is the only one that fits.

There are also a couple of other things to keep in mind. First, after talking to a phone repair technician, he informed me that he has had to work on many Zflip phones where the screen developed a line of black pixels right at the crease in the screen. So long-term durability might be an issue, especially since there is no dust protection rating. Also, keep in mind that it is difficult to open this phone with one hand. The hinge resistance is strong, so you have to use two hands to open it, (or try to flip it open with a TON of force, which doesn't feel safe).

So, you'll have to decide for yourself, but in general I tend to prefer using my S22 Ultra, because the better cameras and stylus are more important to me than the compact size of the Zflip4. However, if you are determined to get a flip phone, this is certainly the best one that exists.

Functionality and easy to set up

The phone arrived early. When I took it to Verizon to activate it they said they couldn't and I had to return the phone. The Whiz Cells messaged me a return label as soon as I messaged them of the problem. When I returned the phone for exchange they offered to exchange it for the model I had or a different model. The phone I chose came quickly and I took it to Verizon for activation. Everything worked fine. I am very happy with my new phone and the service I received from The Whiz Cells.
