This thing shines with cow milk

I was looking for a stand alone milk steamer, but read the reviews on this so I decided to give it a try. It's my only frother and I mostly drink almond and oat milk so I can't complain much until I experience better somewhere else. Whether I make the milk at home or buy a fancy barista milk it's just a thin foam. This thing really shines with cow milk though. I was really surprised at how thick the foam turns out with only 2 percent milk. My only complaint is you must rinse it out immediately upon pouring the milk or you will get a burn spot at the bottom which is a pain to get out and clean. Don't delay a minute while you muck around making a concoction drink, don't even leave liquid in there. Plan accordingly, to pour and rinse without delay.

I have not used the frothing settings as I use it for latte and am a little disappointed with it there in that it could get the milk hotter; although I do appreciate that it does not create any foam with the hot milk. I like that I just press the button quickly 3 times and the correct setting is there and the device starts up. If it got the milk hotter, it would be a 5 star device.
I got it to replace the Capresso froth Select Automatic Milk Frother and Hot Chocolate Maker which does get the milk nice and hot but does create too much foam for my taste (but also has a rather finicky button).

When I was contacted about my warranty by Rhone, I was excited to learn that they would simply replace my old unit with an updated version. When it arrived, the first thing I noticed that was not a feature of the older model was a larger mixing cup. I also like the fact that your button choices not only light up but beep. The reason this unit doesn't earn five stars. It's for the fact that it doesn't handle milk that has less than 3% fat. For those of us who cannot have dairy that limits our choice of frothing mediums. The older model didn't seem to have an issue with either soy, hemp, rice or coconut milk. There's another pet peeve that I have with this unit, and that is the depth of the mixing cup. The stem of the whipping spring exceeded far enough down to one has to squished their hand in to try to pull out the whipping mechanism to clean, I also noticed that the nonstick is not as nonstick as the previous unit, I still have to give the cup a good scrubbing to get out the heated milk residue.

I've been using this frother for a couple of weeks now and I'm very happy with it. It is fast, simple to use and easy to clean as long as you clean it immediately after you are done with it. One note: I bought this on special so got the model with the spatula. It's a nice extra, but definitely NOT worth $10 more, which I see is currently the price difference - any old flexible spatula, such as you probably already have, will do fine
