Did I want a 5 step ladder with the 6th being a tool holder or a true 6 step?
I'm not on ladders much but I did want a ladder that is light weight and easy to move around. I'm getting rid of my super heavy "professional" grade ladders as they are so cumbersome.
I looked at the 5 step plus the 1 being a tool/parts holder. The 5 plus 1 was about 5 lbs. heavier. This 6 step is super light weight exactly what I wanted. Do I think I would ever stand on the 6th step? No. I don't know anyone that would stand on the very top of any ladder. But with that being said it does allow the top step to be used as a tool/parts holder but 5 lbs lighter.
For me, it's a game changer. No more stretching and reaching for things. This ladder easily brings me up to what I need to reach.
If you're needing to use a ladder a lot and you are in need of a heavy duty ladder, I would get a heavier gauge ladder. This ladder is for a homeowner who needs an occasional ladder to do chores around the house or outside. Perfect for my needs.

I am five feet tall and in my early 60's. My previous stepladder had four steps and I had to stand on the top step on my tiptoes to reach the furnace filter that needs to be changed out monthly in the Winter. All of my friends were afraid that I'd fall doing it. With this stepladder, I can stand on the fourth step up from the bottom, manipulate the catches in the ceiling for the furnace filter cover, and do so safely and sturdily supported.
