I really like this bird feeder which I have attached to a plant stand on the balcony rather than in the ground. I have Wagner's bird food but the birds eat from the other bird feeder and not this one. I don't know why. This one even has a small perch for the birds. I've moved it to another balcony away from the stalking cat but they still aren't eating the bird seed from this feeder. I think it is well constructed, durable and very ornamental. I guess I will just have to consider it a garden decoration. As a yard decoration it is worthy the price. Very reasonable price. Maybe types of birds near my house don't like this style of bird feeder. It is one of a kind and the only one like it in my area. Regardless of their rejections, I think this was worth it and would recommend. Easy to assemble and everyone compliments it. I'm not disappointed in the product, I am disappointed in the birds.

I was excited to see this sunflower bird feeder on Amazon after seeing a picture of one in Birds and Blooms magazine. It is adorable. When it arrived, it was smaller than I anticipated so I was skeptical that the hungry squirrels in our yard would knock it over easily. I'm glad to report that this has not happened! It has been outside filled with sunflower seeds (our neighborhood squirrels' favorite) for a few days now and they have not bothered it as far as I can tell. The small birds have been eating at it, although I think more of them need to discover that it is a food source. I also wish that there was a larger perch for the birds to come and enjoy the seeds. I may try putting a stick through it to provide extra perches...although I wonder if that would give other pests more access to it. We have a lot of raccoons in the woods behind our house. I think that the spiky design of the sunflower petals deters any other critters from trying to access it. I would like if it was a bit larger and sturdier, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. All in all, it is a fun feeder.
