I had a stick pony a/k/a hobby horse when I was a kid in the Middle Ages. When I saw this I knew I wanted to gift it to our grandson. I've purchased a few other Battat toys and they have held up well and seem to be more carefully made than many toy companies. The horse neighing and galloping sounds are fun. There is a battery box tucked into the horse's head that holds 2 AAA batteries that are included, and that's where you would find the off switch if the horse sounds are getting on your nerves. I'm a little afraid the solid wood stick could be turned into a weapon if wild play escalates, but that's just a matter of confiscating it and talking to the child. There's a good-sized red ball at the bottom of the stick to protect your floors and provide a little stability. The box says 2+ age. I'm recommending this because it seems like a quality "pony pal" at a reasonable price compared to other stick ponies I've shopped. Keep in mind, that it hasn't been put to use yet. But if there are any issues with this toy, I'm the type of person who will come back and update this review.

This horse is awesome. It is so well-made. The sound is clear and sounds just like a real horse. There is a zipper for where the battery is. There is an on/off switch inside the zipper. The wood did not have any splintering. The connecting piece for the two pieces of wood on the stick is big and not a choking hazard. It can come off and be separate from the two sticks. Overall, great toy and I would recommend it.

This is a toy stick horse for kids. My almost 2 year old has had a great time playing with it so far!

There is a button behind the ear that you can press to play realistic horse sounds, and it's easy enough to press that my toddler can do it herself.

It's a high quality and well made toy with thoughtful details - like making it very easy and secure to attach the two pieces of the stick together, having space under the handles/straps for little hands to fit underneath, and having a zipper over the battery compartment to keep it closed.

Overall I'd definitely recommend this toy!

This is such a simple toy, but it keeps my 2.5 year old daughter entertained for HOURS! This hobby horse is almost identical to the one I had when I was a little kid. The only difference is that it makes noise with the press of a button. SO cute! I think the price is fair, you shouldn't expect to pay $5 for something like this, especially since it's made so well.

The stick was a bit long for our 17 month old, but it unscrews into 2 pieces so we just left off the bottom half and it's a better size for him! Easy to press button makes cute horse sounds.
