Requires 24mm socket
Lewis Balentine✓ Verified Purchase•January 14, 2024
Be advised that a 24mm socket is required to install the main bolt securing the rack to the 2 inch receiver. A SAE 15/16 socket will work as well. Biggest complaint is that it sticks out a LOT further than needed. Wish that they had included a second position that placed the rack 12 inches closer to the vehicle.
Good first impression so far

So this will need to be a 2 part review. I just received the carrier today. I plan to use it on a Ford Maverick that I'm picking up from the dealer in 2 days. This carrier was one of those attempts to find a diamond in the rough. It is a brand I didn't recognize. Only 1 single review when I bought it. The price was appealing and it has features that check some boxes for me.
Delivery - typical outstandingly fast delivery. Love Amazon!
Packaging - No damage. Well packed.
Instructions - Minimalist but not hard to figure out. Note that this is marked as model # "AF1223" on the front of the instructions. However, when I googled that model number, it didn't really find anything that seemed to match up. Just letting you know what's actually marked on the documentation.
Tools - None included. Pull out your own toolbox.
Parts - Everything was there, plus a baggie marked as extra parts.
Assembly - So far I just hand tightened everything. No tools were included so I'll need to pull out a wrench / socket to tighten everything.
Meet my expectations? Yes, absolutely (so far). I haven't used it and I'll update my review when I do. That said, it went together well, feels very solid, and looks exactly like the picture in the Amazon listing. No negative surprises so far.
Stay tuned for part 2. :)

Great e-bike rack at half the price of the big brands

We had been using a hitch mount Yakima for years before switching to e-bikes. My wife's e-bike is a step-through model which required using one of those bike bar adapters in order to transport it with that rack, and due to the weight of the e-bike/battery, the bike bar broke on a recent trip. We needed to switch to a platform-type rack that didn't rely on hanging the bike by the frame. After researching racks by Saris, Thule, and Yakima that were all $650 and up, I found this rack for half the price.
Setup was fairly straightforward, everything just bolted together easily. I like how fast and easy it is to get our two e-bikes (E-Lux cruiser type bikes) on the rack and secured. On our first trip I did experience one of the bikes front wheels bounced up off the tire holder, but that was because I neglected to use the included nylon webbing strap to secure the front tire. The bar that clamps down over the front wheel isn't meant to hold the bike down with a lot of tension, it's meant to keep the bike from moving side to side, so I recommend always using those straps to secure the front wheel. The platform can get pretty bouncy holding two 80 lb. e-bikes a foot or so away from the vehicle, so best to make sure everything is nice and secure.
The quality of the rack is very high and I'm really pleased with it. The only thing I'm concerned about wearing out over time is the joint mechanism to fold the rack up and down for use. it's a little touchy, requiring some finagling to get it to snap into position. There is an included safety pin that takes the pressure of the mechanism when in transit and I also highly recommend always having that in place, removing it only when you need to fold the rack up or down. Otherwise I was pretty delighted with the sturdiness of the unit (the pictures don't do justice to how thick and sturdy the metal is) and would buy it again.

Good quality at low price point

Sturdy and solid. Easy mount to vehicle. Easy to load bicycles. Tilt feature is easy to use when bikes are loaded. Securely holds bicycles.
Used ours a few dozen times, short and long distances. At this price it does not have the conveniences of expensive carriers. But it works great to move bikes around!

Purchased this rack to haul a friends step through ebike 1300 miles one way. Assembly was easy- it took me about 45 minutes. I have yet to put it on the SUV-
I do already see possible issues-
*as the bikes will be set on the rack offset from one another and appears that the tires between the 2 bikes will be wider than the vehicle. I will probably consider offsetting the cross bars to align the bikes with the vehicle width..
* I did purchase a locking pin for security while traveling.
* the other issue is the 'tire mounts' are plastic. I am concerned of durablity over time. And I looked for replacement parts just to have- but I was unsuccesful in that search.
When the weather breaks here, I will test drive it with 2 e-bikes in the next couple of weeks , and Update this review...
UPDATE- after I offset the bars by about 2 inches opposite of one another- front tire end - the tires stuck out too far with the tight 5 lane roads I was traveling. working out some quirks - with a fender- keeping the bar from being able to secure on the front tire- finding another "good spot" on the bike (being a stepp through)..
This rack did well on the long East coast trip. I would definitely recommend this rack.
I did purchase a new 'Locking pin' and a ratchet wrench, 1" for getting the bolt tight.
Easy Load and Easy Unload.
Sits up high enough to back up over parking curbs to fit into parking spots.
