The media could not be loaded. 2-1-2023 Pictures show 6.3 pounds of cat food with the left over space. The video is the sound it makes when it kicks on. Sounds like purring to me. It kicks on automatically when it senses the pressure is low. You know it is working because you can unlatch it and lift the whole thing by the lid and the suction holds the food. I was considering returning this item as for some reason it didn't work. (Couple days) Then all of a sudden, it did. I mean it is pretty simple. Charge it, screw it on. Tap button 2x, and see the blue flash twice. Go figure. As to if it keeps the food fresh or not I can't say, I'm not a cat. I have been curious though. I should have tested it first on some pretzels or something but it is too late now.

This is a very clean, nice looking, solid well made and simple product. I read in other reviews that there may have been a lemon or two but the company quickly shipped the replacement parts and the customers were thrilled with the result and the vendor.

My unit arrived with the air vacuumed out and I had to slightly pull the release tab (lift the flap of little orange rubber stopper on top) to let air in so that I could remove the lid. This means it held a tight vacuum throughout whatever shelf and shipping duration was involved. Probably at least a few days or even much longer.

Because it takes like 15-30 seconds to vacuum the air out out of the unit to seal, and makes a droning whirring noise (not too loud but noticeable) , and I don't want to keep letting air in and evacuating it through my cat food too much (because all the in/out air flow probably entails at least some amount of good degradation), I bought an Airscape container to hold a few days or week's worth of food, so I don't have to go to the well too often so to speak. Airscape is a brilliant idea which I've been using to keep my coffee fresh for many months. That doesn't hold a vacuum but it doesn't let much air hover around the product, so it's pretty effective with it's inner lid strategy.

This two stage plan gives me some readily accessible cat food without having to open the larger/longer term PetKit storage unit multiple times a day. And, though the Airscape can will be opened several times before refilling it, the cat food that's stored there won't be in that unit long enough for it to be an issue.

I think that's a good compromise of convenience and longevity for the cat food. Probably as good as it gets.

The reviews were so great, I didn't hesitate a minute to purchase the Petkit Vacube. I don't know why it's not working for me. I pull my puppy's food out at night, and double press, and it works. Then I go to take out the food the next day, the lid pops right off- no vacuum, doesn't release any air when I pull the orange button. I double press and it turns orange, the puck is sitting evenly and It's not holding the charge, I'm trying to charge it up again. I've already charged it overnight. Really wanted to love this. Third picture was after a full night 8 hours of charging. Still orange. Did I get a dud?

I want to change my review to a 5 star. My lid was damaged, the clips on the side were too loose. The PETKIT company sent me a new lid, and it works perfectly now. Flashes blue after the double tap, and stays sealed until I release the air. So happy with this product, and what a great follow thru from PETKIT. They really went above and beyond to make sure it worked properly and I appreciate it very much!

No more stale / wasted food. I liked the first one so much, I bought 2 more! There is nothing cheap with this product. It deserves 5 stars for everything.
