Very nice and shiny gold plated with a thin black cord. Connector is a small pin that you push into a small plastic lined hole that secures nicely. Would say that replacing the chain would make it more appealing since the cord metal detail is silver and the pendent is gold. Very cute gift for a horn player or music appreciator.

I'm not a professional french horn player, but I played in school bands and orchestras for more than 10 years. I even made first position in the state orchestra three years in a row. This horn played well right out of the box, and as far as tone, I could not tell a difference from horns I have played that cost 5x more. The kit was great including a light and well-constructed case, and several useful accessories. The only thing missing is a spit valve which is a minor inconvenience. Instead you just pull out a slide.

Looks like the real thing. "Precision" is the right word, as another reviewer mentioned. There's even a tiny hole in the horn part; thus, the above title for my review. Everything is there. It's a cute, shiny, gold little bugger which would make a great gift for anyone musically inclined, especially a French horn player.
The only drawback I see is a precautionary one: the black rope's silver clasp is very delicate and looks like it may, sooner than later, come apart. Otherwise, the price is reasonable and the horn is lovely.
