This is the first tester I have ever purchased. It's easy to use, however, there is one feature that I would like to see on it for self testing.
Once I start blowing it beeps, and then after four seconds the display signals me to stop blowing. It's just a visual signal without a beep.
Since it's hard to see the display while you're blowing it would be nice if it beeped also to signal stop.

I was thinking about having some neighborhood euchre playing at my house in the fall. With today's crazy litigious world, you never know if someone has been drinking a little too much and then drives and has an accident, blaming the host for their indiscretion in today's personal irresponsibility era.
I figured with this, I can at least let them check their Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) to see if they're safe, and take keys if not.
I tried it on myself the other night. I drank a 8-ounce glass of wine and waited 20 minutes. I then blew into the device, and it showed 0.03 BAC, which is what I'd expect. (6 oz. of wine - assuming normal proof - should cause BAC of 0.02, so 8 oz. should be closer to 0.03.)
I tried it again this morning (shown), and it properly registered as 0.00.
Not all people are affected similarly by alcohol, so there still may be some people who are not legally drunk but shouldn't drive. So if you're feeling "buzzed," even if it shows you're within the legal limit, please don't drive.
As a general rule, it takes about 1-hour for each drink to be processed by the body (or maybe a little less less for larger people).
In any case, this seems like a nice testing device, and was affordable.
