I was skeptical at first but was desperate when the Texas "˜snow' storm of 23' rolled in. It came a few days before and I got to test it out before hand just in case it didn't work. At first I was using it with the 4hr starter log and it was a little Smokey. But if I can start it without the 4hr or if I wait for the 4hr to burn out and then use it it's perfectly fine. No smoke and you can see it flaking out. Pretty cool to watch. The container says to experiment with it so I did. I sprinkled a little (like I would with a seasoning shaker with dinner, just shake it in there) when I would turn the logs. Highly recommend if you don't want to hire a cleaner or have to climb on the roof to clean it your self!

Look, I rarely write a review on anything. But, Co-Mate does exactly what it says. I went to do a regular chimney maintenace sweep only to discover there was "NO" cresote, none. The chinmey walls where "clean". I'm amazed.
