Basic, but works well

This is a small, basic little unit with no frills but it does exactly what it's supposed to pretty well. My cars factory speedometer is just hard to see in the daytime, even with the headlights on. I bought this unit to give it a try with an eye toward buying a more expensive unit if the GPS based units work. It's small, but the numbers are plenty large enough to see easily, and truth is I don't want a big heavy unit on my dash that might go flying around in my car in the event of an accident. It powered up and synched with the GPS system within a minutes time, and holds that connection as well as any other GPS based gadget I have ever had. There is very little lag in the readings, brief enough as to be unnoticeable. I'm impressed with this little gadget, enough so that I don't intend to buy a more expensive unit. The only thing I can say that detracts from this review is that bright sunlight does make it a little harder to read the display. But, in fairness, that's true of most electronic digital displays out there. For the money, I'd say this one is a keeper.

I have now bought two a couple weeks ago for my golfcart, and a neighbor's John Deer quad. At first I thought is was off on speed, but was on KMs..(Switchable).
Someone here said it was not dimmable, but it is. Takes about 1 min to collect enough satellites to display correct time and speed.

My GPS is off due a tire size change and differential gearing change. I have an older cable driven speedometer and am still trying to find the correct speedometer gear to get the factory one reading more accurately. This is a pretty easy way to hold me over til I get that done.

- speed is accurate to within 1mph of roadside radars I drive past
- readable in direct sunlight
Cons
- It can be a little slow to locate GPS in dense urban or wooded areas, sometimes taking several minutes
- some of the display segments are less bright or don't work at all
- I wish it was dimmable, it can be a little bright at night time
Overall I am happy with the function and form of this product!
