No real surprises - looks like the pictures, and install went without any hitches. I didn't really read the instructions, so I can't say if I vouch for them; that being said, if you know basic light installation, there won't be any curve balls with this. My personal preference, since the light does leave the bulb fully exposed, especially from the bottom view (this is in our bedroom, right above the bed, so I'm staring up at it regularly) I would recommend the Edison-style bulbs, just for that added esthetic. Wife was pleased after my install, so I'm calling it a win.
