We bought this after a friend said he smelled gas in the basement of our new home! After the company who installed the system said everything was fine! The sniffer arrived the next day, and sure enough, my husband detected 2 leaks. The hvac company sent a tech right over and he verified the leaks with this sniffer, even when he couldn't find them at first after doing the spray bubble test. The leaks are fixed, but I would recommend everyone with gas appliances have one of these to check out all your fittings. It's so easy to use, and under $20!

I kept smelling a faint smell of gas, but we could not find a leak. I found this, purchased it and we found the culprit in minutes. It was a very small leak at the new stove connection that couldn't be detected with the old soapy water method! i was worried that should we leave the house (and not have air movement) and have a leak, we could have gas build up. This little gem determined the location of the leak, and simply redoing the connection with the correct plumber tape for gas solved the problem! No longer do we have a faint smell and this detector says we are NOW leak free! The price here was also much better than anywhere else. Shipping was great, it was here early the next day as promised! Highly recommend you buy it and keep it handy. I store the battery in the box, but not inside the unit. I don't want anything to happen to it because of a battery. Great buy!
