Best one yet!!

I was getting very frustrated, trying different brands of carpet cleaners, and then I found this one! We have a seven pack of senior pups, and I have to have a carpet cleaner on hand at all times, as accidents happen with our seniors!! This unit has fantastic suction power (other units couldn't compare), the circular spinning brushes make a huge difference (others had the bars with bristles), the dryer works quickly, and cleaning it is a breeze. It makes down easily, and each part can easily be cleaned, and the circular bristles on a bar release easily, for each individual cleaning. I have not found any negatives about this cleaner as of yet. I highly recommend it!
Fixed Leak - Otherwise a Decent Product

I mainly use this for cleaning up cat puke. If I clean up right away it does a good job. If I wait to clean it up then I have to make several passes. Better than my Bissell portable but not as good as I expected.

The problem I have with it is the cheap parts and the corners cut especially at points of failure.

After using the upholstery cleaner my machine began leaking while the power was off or on. After taking it apart I found that the rubber ring from the upholstery cleaner plug shredded and got stuck in the upholstery cleaner port. So basically the port couldn't seal properly and water leaked out.

Mind you I had only used the upholstery cleaner three times so the rubber ring shouldn't have shredded as easily as it did. I recommend that the company not use these cheap rubber rings on the upholstery cleaner; especially with how the port is designed. Also, the spring that is used to seal the port is very weak. I don't see it reliably keeping a good seal in the long run.

On the bright side this component was surprisingly easy to take apart and repair so they get an additional star for that.
BUY IT!!

Ok, so I had an older version of the Hoover pet (the blue and white one that's only like $100-LOVED IT) and a Bissell Green pet upholstery guy. Used that Bissell once, cleaned, put it away dry; it was immaculate, then the seal from the clean tank got screwy, it was useless. LOST my mind at 2:30a cause this thing was leaking allllllllll over my brand new hardwood floors, and I just trashed it. I adored my Hoover so much that I was like I don't care how much it is, I'm getting an all in one unit and gifting my Hoover pet.

Fast forward to I've had this Hoover for a few weeks and I've used every aspect of it and holy crap- I'm in love all over again, but now I don't have to have space to store two huge machines.

A. The separate water and cleaner tanks is wonderful, though I don't feel it puts out enough of the cleaning solution for my liking, even being on the deep clean setting.

B. The larger tanks are sooooo much easier and more convenient to use. Seriously, if you think eh, the smaller would be fine; it's worth the extra whatever amount for this model with large tanks.

C. The entire unit which comes in contact with dirty water can be disassembled. This makes cleanup quick, easy and thorough. I also rinse the dirty tank when I'm working and have to refill/dump. That way nothing is building up as I go.

I should have taken a before pic of my WHITE rug which rabbits, cats and house guests had ravaged. The think looks damn near brand new. Oh, totally forgot to mention my rug (which is fully synthetic and VERY low pile) feels DRY immediately after. I did run over and over the whole thing till no significant water was pulled up, so keep that in mind.

All in all, spend the money. It would have been over $150 to have it GG professionally cleaned and this isn't my only rug. It's worth every penny to numerously use till it dies.
Does the job (but, far from perfect)

I dithered between this version (XL Pet), the cheaper Powerscrub XL versions and a couple pretty compelling Bissell products in same price range. Hoover seems to deliberately obfuscate which features are in each model or they have no clue what is important to customers but after returning a much cheaper version of the Powerscrub line that ended up not having a feature I value that the more expensive models have I settled on the XL Pet vs the more powerful Bissells because of separate soap container and relatively large recovery tank on the Hoover vs Bissell. After going through 3 full tanks here are my pros/cons:
Pro:
- I do like the relatively big recovery tank which is consistently full just prior to clean tank being empty. Clean tank holds 4.25 qts. Recovery tank 3.25 qts. In my 3 refills there were 1 to 1.5 pints remaining in clean tank when rectory tank became full. This was on the "deep clean" setting.
- carpet was dry on top in half an hour but more like 60-90 minutes to become dry. This at 40% humidity and ceiling fans running at 3/4 speed.
- suction seems strong enough. It certainly pulled a whole lot of grit and grime out of carpet that is regularly vacuumed with high quality vacuum cleaner in a home that doesn't allow shoes indoors. It leaves about 3/4 qts solution behind for every 4 qts applied.
- I strongly wanted a model with soap solution separate from lean water tank but as far as I can tell, to do a rinse only pass you must remove the little cleaner tank. Not a big deal to do. After 25 years of cleaning up pet and kid messes I've never felt the need for a rinse pass but I love the idea of easily doing such a pass.
- ergonomics are okay. Considering it has about 8 lbs of liquid aboard I'd say it is moderate in total weight and the suction force/brushes provide noticeable resistance to overcome. After a couple hours of using it I was ready for a break (but I'm nearly 70 years old).
- pretty easy to clean the machine after use but I don't have long haired pets. I do like the vertical brush system except that carpet fibers need to be combed out of the brushes- an old toothbrush works pretty well for that.
- it uses 3 plus ounces of solution per tank of water when set to "deep clean". Hard to say exactly because I only had the 6 oz sample that came with the machine and didn't realize until after the 3rd tank that it doesn't use the last 2 ozs of cleaner in the cleaning solution tank. I suspect is closer to 4 ozs than 3 on deep clean setting. Cleaner tank holds about 12 ozs of solution.
- it isn't quiet but I never felt need to wear hearing protection. After the second tank it developed a high pitched whine that I'm assuming is due to my not getting a tank perfectly seated.

Con:
- I've never owned Hoover in the past but everything about Hoover from the product descriptions to the manual/directions to the website to the machine itself screams lack of customer focus. Not unhappy with the machine but I have serious doubts about what kind of support I'll get if something goes wrong.
- there are plenty of reviews mentioning leaks and I can see why. I haven't experienced a leakage problem but you do have to be attentive when installing any of the tanks. They aren't bad but aren't great to get aligned and snapped properly into place.
- the directions are borderline bad and the single sheet paper directions give you a URL for additional help but reality is it sends you to oblivion courtesy of the Hoover website. There is so much more to doing a decent job of carpet cleaning than just pushing the cleaner back and forth across the carpet but Hoover is strangely silent on the topic.

Random thoughts:
- I've had a Bissell spot cleaner for 25 years that has served us well but needs a simple gasket that Bissell no longer supports. This is my first push model and I nearly purchased a model that automatically applied solution (I.e. no trigger to manage). Now with only a few hours of experience I'm very sure the automatic models are a very bad idea! You very much want control of how much and when solution is applied.
- I do like the single row of vertical brushes this model has. The brushes turn off when handle is latched fully vertical so they don't wreck your carpet while using the hose and spot clean attachments. The brushes also power down under heavy load which I think I like again from perspective of damage. Brushes have the ability to float up and down automatically and I'm thinking that you really don't want aggressive scrub action. My carpet is pretty short but relatively dense if that matters for this review.
- the difference in price between pet and non-pet versions was very small so I bought the pet version however the pet focused attachment is completely worthless. The basic attachment works pretty well.
- accessory hose fluid supply line requires priming and buried in the directions is a comment and directions on how to do it.
- recovery tank full indicator is very effective with a loud "pop" noise, visual confirmation and immediate loss of suction.
- we have a lot of carpet and while one could conceivably do entire house with this machine it isn't really designed for that and would be punishing physically. It's more for periodic touch up of heavily trafficked areas and cleaning up after pets and kids. My Bissell spot cleaner works really well on messes but I have to say this machine is very much easier and quicker on floor messes though about twice as expensive as a good spot cleaner. Carpet cleaning services around here are shockingly expensive and when I decide to tackle all the carpets I think commercial rental machines are the only way to go. They seem to rent for about $40 per day around here, likely will be Hoover or Bissell commercial models and cost for 128ozs of Hoover general cleaning solution from Amazon is a bit over $20.
Should have bought one sooner!

We got a new puppy and with that came tons of accidents. This was easy to use and the setup took around 10 minutes to fully put together. It is easy to clean the brushes which is something that everyone needs to do if they have pets or just people in the house with a lot of hair. Failing to do this will reduce the suction and give the impression that it is not working properly. This is the second time I have ordered this brand and will continue to do so in the future when needed,
