I was worried about this ac because Amazon gave me a warning that it is a frequently returned item. I decided to try it because my bedroom only has one window and I didn't like the ac taking away the gorgeous view for the hot months. I came in dented so that made me even more wary.
The installation went very easy and in no time it cooled the room down to sub zero (jk).
Some things that I didn't like at first. If the outside temp is in the mid to low 70's, the ac doesn't turn on. So if you like the room on the cool side, like I do, then waking in the middle of the night to turn the ac off then back on helps to cycle it on.
Quiet. This thing is quiet. Every once in a while something kicks in, I think the water pump, and it gets a bit louder. It is no way as loud as a regular type window unit
The darn remote is freakin worthless. Yes it works BUT it is white with the faintest light gray writing on it. It makes it impossible to tell which button is which. I'm not blind but the remote made me feel blind.
I use the app the adjust the ac any time I need to. It's works a lot better.
I like the ac and I like that I can see outside. I would have given it 5 stars if it had not come in dented. There was plenty of packaging around the working parts but just not the top where it's dented.

I needed an AC that would not take up the window space in my living Room. I also wanted it to efficient since my old ac to small and had to run all out just to cool the room. This GE is all I wanted easy to install and the design keep most of the noise outside. The n shape makes it hang on the window sill with no problem. So far it is a great unit i strongly recommend it.

AC works well. It is heavy! So you do need 2 people to put it into place, and so you do not scratch or damage your windows/ledges/trim. It cools well. the quiet mode is quiet, but in quiet mode when the condenser kicks' on, it would wake me up. So I would leave it in normal mode and I would not hear the condenser noise kicking on as much. But, this was in my bedroom only 5' from my bed. Over all it works well, if you want to be able to open the window or still see out, this really does work well. I used it in a slider window, so I could build a frame above it, and actually installed a small shed window so I could still open up a window in this room, this was the only window in this bedroom and hated that the window was un-usable with an AC in it. It took some work and ingenuity to do this, but it worked! It really a matter of preference and the view or use of your window or a regular window unit would be fine. I would not leave this in over winter though, if your in a climate with snow. But, I did notice the holds for the center section where you can adjust the depth - are showing rust already! WTH! I did not like portable units in this room, they are too loud since they are so close to my bed. But over all this unit is nice and did work as I wanted.

OK - less than 24 hours at this point so if something changes, I will edit my review, but over all A+ on this one. The installation was fairly easy - it does require 2 people, and if you need to get it up stairs, that definitely requires two people. The balancing act on the installation was the hardest part.
In Quiet Mode, it is dead quiet - I can hear the birds chirping outside quiet. In High Fan mode, of course it's louder - the fan is running a lot harder. Still, better than most any other window unit I've seen.
I've not used the remote control but as I have another SmartHQ appliance from GE, I just added it to my app and that works great - I can set up a schedule and if something changes or I want to turn it on or off early, I can do that remotely from my phone.
So far, I am very happy.
Oh- and my box arrived in perfect condition and it was really well packaged inside

My gfs really like that you can see out the window.
My GE has 2 air filters & a water filter & a tray to remove water & a pump that can get clogged. Compared to my Midea clean the single air filter & is ultra quiet. Naturally that is in my bedroom, GE in the living room.
