The USB-C connection works great with my M2 MacBook Air (2022). No drivers needed just connect and you're good to go. Used to rip music from CDs, installed software onto the MacBook and even watched a DVD movie with it. Haven't used to write to any media so can't comment on that.
It does come with a USB-C to USB 2.0 attachment if needed to connect to a computer/device with old USB ports.

Decent option for a lot less money than the Apple version. The plug and play interface can be a little tricky, but once you get your system to recognize the device you are good to go. It looks sleek, too.
