I was wanting to make homemade potato chips and this was perfect! slices so thinly you don't realize it's slicing. All slices were evenly sliced and super thin on the thinnest setting. I loved how you can adjust the thickness. I like the numerous blades available and it's easy to clean. I've had other mandolines and the blade was straight, this one is v-shaped which works so much better. Also. didn't cost a small fortune. Perfect for my needs.

Purchased this slicer last July. Have not had the opportunity to use it until recently and I have not used all of the features. I have used the slicing option for potatoes, zucchini, onions, cucumbers and radishes. IT IS A VERY SHARP UTENSIL USE WITH UTMOST CARE!!! Having said that, novice cooks and children should not use.
For potatoes dauphinoise, I used some very small red potatoes, about 3/8" thick. The first two passes I did bare handed with my palm open and my fingers and thumb arched UPWARDS. Then I used the guard for the remainder of the potato and voilá perfect, thin slices down to the nub of the potato.
Zucchini came next and I sliced in into rounds using my palm until about 2" of squash remained, then I added the guard and was able to slice to the stem with very little waste.
Onions, cucumbers and radishes were similar process. When I got to the 'nub' but could get another slice, I used a wooden spatula as a 'pusher' keeping my fingers well away from the VERY SHARP BLADE.
I am looking forward to soup and stew season so I will be able to use the various blades. I will try to revisit the review at that time.
Meanwhile, I am very happy with the item and would definitely would purchase again.

Not much to say. Does what it says (I bought safety gloves too b/c I am about as clumsy as they come) and really makes things quickly. I prepared a coleslaw last night in half the time. Really happy with it, and looking forward to continued use.

I had mandoline, but it wasn't adjustable and neither of the blades gave me the thickness I wanted for pickles. My wife is fond of summer squash and adjusting the thickness to max. is just right for lasagna. It makes really thin slices for pickled red onion. The V-shape of the blades prevents whatever you are slicing from drifting to the side. Haven't tried the julienne yet, but it should make short work of cabbages for coleslaw and sauerkraut. 3 stars for safety, the glove is only slightly cut resistant. Use the pusher if you are cutting something thin.

It does everything way better than I expected. I just wish the the food holder had a better system, many times the food slides off and makes you want to use bare hands (hence the thumb).

I highly recommend it, but also get the no cutting gloves! You might be thinking, "nah, I'll just be careful"
GET THE NO CUTTING GLOVES! (read it like an order).

I thought I wasn't gonna need them because I was being extra careful since I read somebody else's warning. But guess what, last week it was husband's thumb, now it's mine. Thankfully both superficial, but somebody wrote they had to go to the ER.

So far we've used it for cheese, potatoes, cucumber, tomatoes and other veggies. It does exactly what you had in mind. Love it!

PS--- get no cutting gloves!
