Works best with long loaves

I love to bake bread, but slicing the bread can be a headache.
I mostly make round loaves of bread but I found that I could slice it in half then use this to help slice it. It did not come with any instructions so I was confused on how to use it at first.
I eventually realized that you flip the arms around in order to cut.
I did find that my knife is really cutting into the bamboo while cutting my slices. I am not sure if its just because I am cutting extra crusty bread or not.
When I make sandwich bread this cuts them into nice similar sized slices. I love that I have the capability to do that.

This is a great little bread slicer. It folds down neatly so it's easy to store. I thought it was a bit unstable at first, but once you slide the back panel into place, it hardly wobbles at all. I do wish the sides were just a little taller, though. My bread maker makes 1.5 and 2 lb loaves and both bake up an inch or two taller than the sides of the slicer. Not a deal breaker, by any means, but it does mean the tops of my slices are a little wonky compared to the rest of the bread where I'm able to use the guide.
I do like the crumb catcher tray a lot. It makes cleanup so much easier.

I use my Cuisinart Convection Bread Maker (CBK-200) on a fairly regular basis to bake a large loaf of bread (2 lb. size). I have always had a lot of difficulty cutting uniform slices for sandwiches, so I ordered this bread slicer in hopes that it would correct that problem. This is a nice slicing guide that is easy to assemble for use, folds up nice and flat for storage, and washes easily by hand. The 2 lb. loves fit nicely in this slicer lengthwise, but my bread maker makes a really high 2 lb. loaf that sits well above the slicing guides, so I have to go in at an angle with my bread knife to start the cut. I also have to pull the slicer and loaf close to the edge of the counter so that I can accommodate the angle with the knife. It still works though, and my slices are better at uniformity. I could try baking a smaller size loaf, but we like this size, and frankly, I'd have to bake more often. I'm lazy like that; that's why I'm using a bread maker in the first place!
