Lightweight CD-DVD burner with built-in USB hub

This unit from Roofull replaced a 5-year old, portable 8X LG unit I have used in the past. My wife recently acquired a laptop and needed a portable CD-DVD so she took my LG and I picked up the Roofull (choosing this particular model since it included a built-in USB 3 hub useful for working with USB sticks and photo media cards).
The unit arrived on time and worked right out of the box with my Windows 11 laptop using standard Windows Explorer, ImgBurn (an open source software tool) or CyberLink PowerDVD. It worked equally well playing or burning movie DVD's, audio CD's or data file CD's or DVD's. The USB hub function also worked well and while the data transfer rate is definitely at least USB 2 speed I'm not sure it actually attains full USB 3 speed (at least comparing file transfers to a USB 3 stick directly connected to my laptop port with the speed attained with the Roofull plugged into the laptop and the USB stick into the Roofull USB 3 port).
The only downsides to the unit were the incredibly small type used in its printed manual (easily overcome by downloading the PDF-version from the Roofull web site) and the strobing blue light display it has on the top of the unit (very distracting if the unit is plugged into your laptop for any length of time). On the unit I received, there was no physical switch or software command that could turn off the blue strobe effect but electrician's tape covered the LEDs just fine and blends in with the black case.
Not sure if the Roofull is as well-constructed as my LG unit and will last as long after being bounced around in my laptop bag but for the price and its performance so far I think it is a good value.

When we were finally able to get this plugged in, it was great. However the instructions are poorly written. Enclosed in the package is a cord that looks like it is for connecting to the computer. If you're not remembering what the instructions are above then reread the description because the actual plug-in is built in underneath it but it's coiled in and you won't see it unless you flip it upside down. None of that is in the instruction manual. Simple words are misspelled. It looks like someone read it to them and they sounded out the words. Other than that it has been great so far and it's reading everything I have put into it. Like I said just make sure you're either looking at the stuff above or you flip it over and use the cord that's underneath because it won't tell you that in the instructions. In fact you to QR the owner's manual.

The external CD drive works great. I plugged it in and was able to use it to load some software from 2006 on my computer. The only thing I didn't like about the drive were the flashing blue lights on top of the drive, they were so annoying I finally unplugged the drive. It would be great if the maker of this product would provide a way to turn the lights off since they serve no functional purpose.
