First off, if it matters, the review of reviewers site (you know the one) gives this collection of reviews an "F." Just saying.

I make stills and videos with an android phone, iPad, Nikon DSLR, and Panasonic Camcorder. What I lacked was an "action" camera. Intrigued by the thought of hands free, unique opportunities, I obtained this bundle for a trial run "“ not so much to evaluate its qualities but discover the capabilities of this type of camera and its usefulness to me. Obviously, with no prior experience with this type of camera, as well as unfamiliarity with what premier brands have to offer re quality, my review is not comparative.

Because of its variety of adapters, it seems that you can mount this camera just about anywhere. The bundle lacks a suction cup (and mic) but these are available at a very modest cost on Amazon. The mounting adapters have a 1/4-20 female thread typically used on cameras and tripod quick release plates. The underwater housing appears to be watertight but I have not tested it.

For me, in the least, this is a good bundle for one to investigate the capabilities and usefulness of action cameras and, having done so, determine if this form of videography is relevant to their needs or desires.

My first camera was a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye (620 film; 2-1/4 x 2-1/4) that I received from my uncle (professional photographer and proponent of Ansel Adam's "zone system") as a present on my 9th birthday "“ a very long time ago. My uncle's advice re photography (making/developing pictures) was to start small and grow. Today, I have a collection of still and video cameras of varying formats and capabilities that developed, as did I, over the years. So it is for me with this bundle "“ a starting point.

To me, this camera is easy to use and produces acceptable quality images over a wide range of subjects and settings. Is there room for improvement vis-à-vis quality? Of course there is but I do not think the point of this camera is to yield superlative images or videos. As I said, to me, this is an introduction to action videography using the, so-called, action camera. I gave it a 5-star rating, not because its comparable in quality to its $400-$500 cousins (about which is only hearsay to me), but because its capabilities are similar and serve to introduce me to video genre.

This Brave 4 Pro action camera is a few generations old by now, with the Brave 8 currently available, but the Brave 8 costs $260 for the camera alone, at the time of the writing of this review. For less than half the price of the Brave 8 alone, you're getting a Brave 4 and all the accessories you'll probably ever need for it. This Brave model requires an external case to make it waterproof, and while this case is included, the Brave 7 and Brave 8 models are waterproof all by themselves, without the case. If using this in the water is your biggest motivation, it might be worthwhile to go for the later model, even with more expense. If you plan to do most of your video where it is dry, then this could be a good chance to save some money, as you get a bunch of extras that you would have to purchase over an above the $260 for a Brave 8, making this bundle about 1/3 the cost of the similarly equipped latest model. That's a big savings, and if you don't need the latest, greatest . . then this could be a good choice.

Four Star Action Camera Bundle

So I haven't gotten to use any of the accessories yet but I can speak on the camera. I was actually impressed with the picture quality. It was better than I expected. It was fairly easy to navigate through the menus and figure out the different features that it has. I am really excited to start filming content with this. This is going to come in handy when I am riding my motorcycle. I will be able to attach it easily to my handlebar or my helmet. So glad that I get to try this product out. I would recommend it.

This camera bundle is a cool sports camera. We like the screen on it. The camera we use does not have a screen. Overall, it's an affordable camera bundle that we plan on using during airsoft.
