I previously had one of the flat TV antennas and if you didn't face exactly to the direction of the tower, you got spotty reception at best. I got tired of moving that thing around so I decided to try something omni-directional like the Ostrat. Guess what, it works great and I'm using it outside even though the description says its an indoor antenna.
Placement is still crucial, but having the USB amp that plugs into the back of the TV gives this thing power that I didn't have before. It's very small and not in the way. For me, elevating it got me more channels, so look at the pic to see how I rigged it up to be a little higher than the TV. Works great on this pole on my porch.
Reception is very sharp, even on channels that are not High Def. I've spent a lot of money trying out different antennas and got marginal reception in the past, but I know I have a winner here. The instruction manual was easy to understand and had some good FAQ's. Seller got it to me lightning fast as well. Overall, a very good experience with this item.
