This is a great option to have on hand when you need buttermilk randomly but don't want to run to the store. I always find that we will randomly need a small amount of buttermilk for recipes. Sometimes I will buy it and then we end up wasting so much of it. This is a nice option so you don't have to worry about waste or running out to buy buttermilk.
I was surprised to find that it calls for water vs milk. We used it with water and it definitely ended up much thinner than traditionally buttermilk. I didn't try it with milk but that may help.
