Creates larger ice cubes, but I should have looked at the measurements in advance. I was hoping to use them in my large water bottles, but the mouth of the bottle is too small to accommodate this. Great for aTervis tumbler, though! It also works in some of my larger glasses, but not ones that taper a bit at the top. In retrospect, I should have looked for larger round cubes.

I had difficulty getting the lid to secure once it was full of water. They have a decent internal structure providing strength. Releasing the cubes from the the tray was easier once I ran it under water, but does require some had strength. The label on the lid adheres too well, not easily removed.

Simple to fill, doesn't buckle when full. Doesn't have a smell or aftertaste like some other silicone molds do. The lid seems to be a bit of an afterthought - doesn't fit very well, difficult to put on when there's water, and difficult to replace when there's ice.

This ice tray is made of nice material and it does what it's meant to do: it creates big cubes of ice! There are just a couple things to mention.

First, the lid was difficult to get on and keep on before the ice formed. Once the ice formed, it was a lot easier. I figure it's a good thing that the silicon alone is a bit too flexible for the lid, since that makes it a lot easier to get the cubes out of the silicon. So it's a fair trade off, and not a big issue. Still, that's why I gave it 4 stars.

Second, it took several hours for the ice cubes to fully form. I figure, though, that's due to the sheer size of the cube (2x2 inches) than any issue with the product. If you want cubes this big, be prepared to freeze them for a while. Maybe get a couple trays so that you can have some freezing while some are in use.

Overall, effective and easy to use!

I don't like to buy refrigerators with ice makers and other features in the door, so I had a dilemma when it came to making ice in the bottom freezer. The lids on these trays allow me to stack them in a corner of the top compartment. The lids are not leak proof, so be careful when transporting them full of water. And do not overfill the tray, as it will overflow when the ice expands as it freezes.

The ice cubes themselves are large and last a long time in a cold drink. They can be a little difficult to get out, but that seems to be the nature of silicone. The trays and lids came out unscathed after washing on the top rack of the dishwasher.

Overall, another excellent product from Gorilla Grip. My only wish would be for lids that stay on securely.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I opened this up and saw and felt the size and quality of these trays, and of the functionality and durability of this design! The silicone bases and the rigid plastic lids are very substantial. The lids fit tightly and securely on the base. The rigid lid helps to make the base sturdy and secure when moving the base filled with liquid into the freezer.

I like the size. The larger capacity of each section will allow me to store a larger quantity of herbs (see below), and the size will make it possible to get a cloth inside to clean them well.

The photo shows the size of the sections compared to a U.S. quarter. (The silicone is a consistent red color - my shadow in the photo makes it look like the tray is a darker red in one corner but it isn't.)

I ordered these ice cube trays to use for freezing extra herbs and other seasonings. When I have fresh herbs and other cooking ingredients leftover from food prep, I chop them up and freeze them in small containers for future use. Herbs stored this way are so much more flavorful than dried. I also make things like plant-based parmesan cheese, cashew cream, etc., and like to store them in small containers in the freezer.

I've been washing and re-using the small sauce containers that come with Thai food. They work great except that they're round, too lightweight, and they don't stack"¦! I now have so many small containers of herbs and other things that they fall out of the freezer basket when I try to get one out to use.

I saw a photo of a person using a silicone ice cube tray for this very purpose and I thought "Eureka!!".

I am very pleased with the Gorilla Grip Oversized Ice Cube Trays and plan to get another set! (And toss all the random, messy little containers that are currently in my freezer!)
