This blanket is so very soft. It heats okay, but it seems like it doesn't really reach the head or the foot of the blanket, but different heat settings are nice, and that extra long cord is nice, too, but my feet tend to get tangled up in the cord.

This 62" x 84" electric blanket is true to size, with an actual heated area of 42" x 60". The actual heated area being the part of the blanket that contains the heating wire. The blanket itself is very soft and supple, with the ability to be washed in either a washing machine on delicate cycle or by hand after removing the power cord. It can even be put in a dryer (with low temperature) or hung on a line to dry.

The cord length from blanket to controller is a very generous 8 feet, and from the controller to the AC plug, another 6 feet. It seems to me that the shorter portion should be between the blanket and controller, and the longer portion between the controller and plug, but that's just personal preference. The LED display on the controller is big and bright, very easy to read. I noticed that the back of the controller gets warm when the blanket is turned on, but not hot enough to be concerned.

I measured the power draw of this blanket on each of 6 heat settings. On the maximum setting of 6, the current draw was a fairly steady 130 watts, while at lower settings, it pulled varying amounts - ramping up and down, so it appears that it's not just a simple on/off thermostat, but steadily increasing and decreasing power to provide an even temperature based upon the controller setting. Because this has an electronic thermostat and controls, it draws a little power even when turned off - about .5 watt. This blanket is not dual voltage and can be used with 110V only.

The heating wires provide a very gentle level of heat. Don't expect heating pad level of heat, this is a very low, subtle level of even heat. Perhaps a bit low for most people, I'd prefer a bit more heat.

Attached to the power cord was a cautionary label that mentions that this blanket is not to be used with a generator, power converter (e.g. step down transformer) or an inverter (see highlighted photo). Given that warning, I don't know how this will work in homes with solar power (due to having an inverter), or during power failures in homes with generator backup.

I LOVE this blanket!!!! It stays on my bed even when I'm not using it to heat as it's comfortable and soft. It feels like a fleece sweater"¦so it's cozy. My husband is a sheet snatcher and he gets warm during the night, so he'll turn on the fan"¦So this blanket makes it easy for me to stay warm in my own little cocoon without making him and our children uncomfortable by turning up the heat. It comes with instructions and an attached wired remote which controls how hot and how long. I set mine to the highest setting and to stay warm for a minimum of 8 hours. It's so warm and cozy that when I'm using it my cat will even come to lay on my lap. Get it and enjoy!

This is a lighter weight blanket that provides on-demand heat. I think it is too big to be referred to as a "throw" as it would easily cover a full size mattress. (The attached picture shows it laid out over a king size bed.) I really like the 6 different heat levels and adjustable timer. It also has a long power cord so it shouldn't be a problem plugging it in. However, where the plug attaches to the blanket is a little heavy and pulls on the lighter weight blanket material. It's priced competitively.if you want something in between a throw and a blanket then this is it, but not if you want something equivalent to a "couch throw"
