iGen2200

I purchased my iGen2200 on Amazon. It is not as noisy as a conventional generator. I was surprised and satisfied with the low noise level. I purchased the iGen2200 for tailgate parties and a source of power at park outings. It cranked on the first pull. So far, I'm happy with the iGen2200.
Weather back up and Boondocking

Read the book; followed the instructions. Started on very first pull, and not even a hard pull. Ran it for while with no load then added a small load. Plan to continue the break in and then switch to full synthetic. After borrowing a generator twice I bought this one to have on hand for emergencies and for boondocking. I like how quiet, the dual fuel, the weight, and the 30amp output.

It's quiet when not on eco, and very quiet when on eco. The rubber feet are very thick and do a good job of limiting the vibrations transmitting through the deck to the house. The dual fuel plan for an extended emergency was to use the propane as the base load and switch to gas when trading out the propane tanks. Carrying it with one hand is no more awkward that a heavy suitcase. And the 30a will give us the option to choose more remote camping.

One other reason is the forward compatibility with other WH generators in parallel. If we need more power in the future we just get another one. A bigger one and combine their output.
Well-made, nice & quiet, great manual

I bought this generator as an insurance policy against power outages, since I live in a hurricane-prone area. I really wanted a Honda, but didn't want to spend the money for one. I bought this Westinghouse during Prime Days and I feel like I got a pretty good deal.

I have not used this in an emergency yet, but my initial impression is very positive. It started up on the first pull and is VERY quiet, at least as quiet as the Honda. In Eco mode, it gets even quieter. To be fair, I have not run it under load yet, so it probably gets noisier once you start plugging things in.

The manual is very complete and well-written. You can tell it was written in native English, not translated from another language.

The only negatives I've found are:
1. To add or check the oil, you need a screwdriver to remove two screws and take off the side panel. This is a little frustrating - they could have used thumbscrews to make it easier. They did include a screwdriver to use.
2. The oil fill is awkwardly located at the bottom of the unit, so I had to tip the unit to fill it properly. Once you tip it, of course, you can't measure the oil level accurately, so it's a tedious process.
3. It's a little heavier than I expected and awkward to lug around with the handle, but no worse than a heavy piece of luggage.

Other than these minor quibbles, I am very happy with this generator! Kudos to Westinghouse for making an affordable, no-frills alternative to the Honda. I will update this review as needed once I use this generator in a real emergency!
Florida Hurricane Insurance

After 54 years of living in Florida, losing power for a minimum of 6 days after multiple hurricanes, I bought myself the gift of self-sufficiency. A friend recommended the iGen series and raved about how quiet it runs. I am intimidated by electricity and gas-powered engines, but this is pretty user-friendly. I also gifted myself a portable a/c unit that this generator will support. Hurricane season anxiety has been greatly alleviated. You know how it rarely rains when you bring your umbrella? Well... I hope I never need to use this great resource.
Great choice

Overall I am happy with the purchase.
I have an old generator and it's loud enough to wake the dead. This is much quieter.
I set in my shed and the exhaust facing out and can't hear it unless I'm standing in front of it.
But in the country, you can hear it. City noises help drown it out.
I like the 30 amp plug on it. The LED display is nice and tells how long it will last until you need more fuel.

I tried to run a dewalt 12" chop saw, it was slow to spin up but it worked, less than 3 seconds.
Same with my ryobi 10" table saw. Slow to spin up, less than 3 seconds. But they worked.
