Lighter duty sliding compound miter saw
Vince of the Midwest✓ Verified Purchase•October 14, 2023
What it is: 10" sliding compound miter saw. Features material clamp, adjustable side supports with stops, adjustable fence, angle detents, sawdust bag, 15a 2 speed 3200/4500 rpm motor, 2x 40t blades for wood, 1 48t blade for soft metals, plastics, hardwoods, extra motor brushes, hex wrenches, blade laser, instruction manual. Cut capacity at 90°=13.4", cut capacity at 45°=9.5".
Why I like it: As an avid DIYer, there are projects where I need additional miter capacity over my 10" non sliding compound miter saw. This sliding saw allows me to do crosscuts over 13". The linear bearings slide freely, yet holed the saw securely during travel. Out of the box, the saw was set up accurately"”the 90° detent was spot in, as was the vertical saw stop. The bright orange plastic knobs are easy to see and tighten. The motor safety lockout and trigger work as designed, as does the 2 speed switch. The included blades are fine for framing, but any type of finish cuts will require a high quality crosscut blade. I've been using the Freud and Diablo blades, and they cut very smoothly.
The weak link is the motor itself. Compared to my much older Rigid 15a miter saw, this is much weaker, and takes longer to spin up. There is no motor brake, either, meaning the blade takes several seconds to spin down. This leads me to believe the motor is much less powerful and efficient even though it draws the same amperage as the Rigid saw. The lever action blade guard is effective, but feels loose. Therefore, I'm just not sure how long the motor will last when used with thicker materials or hardwoods. Overall, it's a lighter duty saw that makes accurate miter cuts in softer materials.

Could have been better if the price point was lower, but still a good saw

When I first unpacked this saw, I was afraid I had a clunker on my hands, but I have grown to really like it regardless. the castings look a little crude, but overall it doesn't seem to affect operation.
The based is cast aluminum with a milled surface. The size of the circular portion of the base it a bit smaller than my Craftsman 10" miter saw, but considering the extension for the miter blade slot, it doesn't seem to matter. I'm sure all that was done to reduce weight for cost and shipping concerns.
The laser works OK and is adjustable, but projects a line that is about as wide as the blade kerf, and does not have very crisp edges, so it should only be used as a general guideline.
The surface is flat as is the backing fence. The fence allows for adjustments so you can widen it which is a good feature.
The base extension wings only extend out about 2", so you aren't going to get much additional support, but that doesn't seem like such a big deal.
I think in the end, it's comparable to a Wen saw with the same specs, but the price requested (about $250 at the time I ordered one) is a bit higher. If the price were reduced to match other brands of this quality, this would be an excellent buy.

Maybe a poor mans Evolution saw?

I picked this saw up to evaluate it's use for cutting steel. I had been looking at the Evolution steel cutting saws, and saw this option with a 2-speed function, very intriguing. Motor is a little loud. Plastics are a little cheap. Adjustments are accurate, but crude.
Overall quality is pretty meh, the saw is probably a little overpriced for what you are getting, though it looks like it might have a perpetual coupon always available. Spend a little time going over the saw, understanding the adjustments, and even changing the blade. Everything mostly works. I had some issues with the blade not completely cutting through material near the fence, but realized there was a blade stop that was incorrectly adjusted - fixed that and all was good.
It cuts steel fine - fine metal shavings will very much be a thing though, so be prepared for cleanup, maybe cut over a tarp or solid surface.
I verified that it works for wood as well, but didn't spend a ton of time w/ it in that role as I have a much nicer miter saw for wood.
Overall not too bad?

A good sliding compound miter saw for the price. The table is nicely machined aluminum and adjustments are pretty smooth. The table turns smooth and the saw slides quite well. It's not a silent sliding action like what you might find on something costing twice as much but as a DIYer this will do fine. The motor is noisier than other miter saws I've used or any other power saw for that matter so get some hearing protection. The laser lines up with the kerf of the blade so it helps in positioning your stock.
It lacks an electronic blade brake which would be nice to have. I've got a decking project coming up soon so this will be handy.
