I was excited to get this as it is both a propane detector and Carbon monoxide. When first installing it takes about a minute to warm up and function. There is a countdown on the LCD display. I have this in my RV testing area in the garage with multiple propane devices as well as detectors. After my initial test of putting propane by it, which it went off and indicated the PPM on the display, I went about my business. Then for some reason, this unit kept going off seemingly intermittently over a few days. This was the only detector out of 3 others that was going off so I thought something was wrong with the unit. However, I took another special leak tester I have ad low and behold, I found a leak out of one of my propane units. I am very happy that this unit performed so well and was the only detector to indicate a problem I did not even know I had. As a result, that is why I am giving this 5 stars. Also the PPM on the screen is in tune with my handheld device. The only thing that would be better is if there was a better visual between the propane or co indicators. But to me that is minor compared to the safety it provides.

I installed the PANGAEA RV Carbon Monoxide & Propane Dual Gas Detector in our camper yesterday. It took about and hour and a half or so to find a suitable place to mount it and get everything wired correctly. My original plan was to mount the PANGAEA RV Dual Gas Detector next to our information center, after reading the included instructions, being reminded that Propane and Carbon Monoxide are heavier than air by Pangaea, 6th Grade science right? I chose a location 12" off the floor out of harm's way in the area directed in the instructions. The protective cardboard insert makes a wonderful template for the mounting hole, fasteners are included.

The PANGAEA RV Dual Gas Detector makes a loud alarm when it initializes, then counts down from 60 Seconds then goes dark. It has a light to let you know it's there as well as a " test button " on the face of the unit. The PANGAEA RV Dual Gas Detector didn't give any false alarms, it does it's work out of harm's way. It is nicely build and should last for years to come.

I ordered this to replace BOTH my hardwired propane leak detector and battery operated Carbon Monoxide detector. My prior propane leak detector had started giving false alarms, which were...quite alarming. Really nice to have both functions combined in one attractive and compact unit. A quick test with an unlit propane torch confirms function.

This detector was an important order since my hunting lodge needs the protection from CO and LPG. I need the safety. The display clearly shows gas concentration readings. The alarm is quite loud and instantly sounds off to alert all to dangerous gas levels. I wish there was a battery backup.

I installed this as a back up to my other hard wired CO and propane detectors. Overall it seems like a well made unit. The wires are nice and sturdy, not super thin like some others. The only real complaint I have is that the green light is too bright, especially at night. A Sharpie marker helps but I may resort to some tape.

The instructions mention that the sensors are good for five years of powered on service. As I disconnect the RV battery when in storge the sensors should last a long time. I am curious to know how long they will last if only powered don for a few months every year. Could they last for 20 years?

Definitely worth considering.
