Of all simple remotes available on Amazon currently, I chose this one mainly for one reason: the fact that the on/off button is red-colored. Probably not a big deal to most others, but with my grandfather's dementia, things really need to be as simple and intuitive as possible. This remote is straightforward with the other most prominent buttons being those for channel and volume adjustment. He was constantly changing the source input etc. via the standard remote we had, and now he only has five buttons to mess with since I didn't program the very bottom three buttons. Speaking of programming, the IR learning function was easy enough so long as you follow provided instructions.

Just as was described, very easy to set up. Buttons are large and though my 94 year old husband is challenged when trying to use his hands he is eventually able to change channels and work the volume on the tv, something he couldn't do with the other tv control. Bought this because my spouse has hearing aids, but putting them in is literally the last thing on her list of things to do (she has an actual list.) The mute button is convenient. I mute the TV, and then don't need to yell to be heard. Works right out of the package with our LG TV.
(Attention video engineers) >> BECAUSE IT'S NOT BLACK, IT'S EASY TO FIND! Having a second, easy to find remote is convenient when spouse is listening to the TV at elevated (no hearing aid) volume levels, or has fallen asleep. Makes a bad situtation tolerable. I have not used the sleep mode, so I can't review it.

Fairly easy to program for the Amazon Fire TV. You may get the "volume" control but other buttons don't work. Keep going through the settings as the instructions indicate. Recommend you keep the original fire tv remote available as you cannot access other functions you might need on the tv. But this works great for seniors who don't use "smart" tv functions.
